Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for adaptation of WLAN selection thresholds. In one aspect there is provided a method, which may include receiving, at a user equipment, information including one or more thresholds for use when evaluating a selection of a wireless local area network access point for offloading; comparing, by the user equipment, a quality of an access provided by the wireless local area network access point selected in accordance with the one or more thresholds to another quality provided by a cellular access point; reporting, by the user equipment, a result of the comparing; and receiving, by the user equipment in response to the reporting, additional information including one or more adjusted thresholds for use when evaluating wireless local area network access point selection. Related systems, articles of manufacture, and the like are also disclosed.

Adaptive threshold handling for triggering WLAN offloading

A method comprises, in a carrier aggregation system having multiple component carriers, utilizing an air interface based collision avoidance procedure on at least one component carrier that is associated to a cellular radio access technology to check that a radio resource in the at least one component carrier is available; and thereafter communicating on the radio resource using the cellular radio access technology only if the check reveals that the radio resource is available.

Priority-based fairness and interference signalling technique in a flexible spectrum use wireless communication system

A method for security for inter-RAT carrier aggregation is disclosed. The method includes encrypting a message using an encryption technique for a first RAT. The method also includes sending, to a UE, at least a portion of the encrypted message using a different, second RAT. Sending using the second RAT does not further encrypt the at least a portion of the encrypted message. The method further includes receiving the at least a portion of the message encrypted using the first RAT protocol. Receiving uses the second, different RAT. The method also includes decrypting the at least a portion of the message using the first RAT protocol. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

Security solution for integrating a WiFi radio interface in LTE access network

A method is disclosed that includes determining a preamble, at least a portion of which is unique to one or more user equipment for a device-to-device communication of one or more subframes on a band, and performing the device-to-device communication of the one or more subframes comprising the preamble on the band. The band could be, e.g., a lightly-licensed band, a licensed-exempt or unlicensed band, a secondary usage of a band of the licensed band, a band in TV white space, or a licensed band.
