Adjusting the operation of a wire section, in which the development of the consistency of stock on the wire section () is determined and the effect of the consistency determined above on the formation and/or porosity of a paper web () is determined. The consistency developed on the wire section is adjusted based on a quality property of paper and/or by optimising a cost function, the quality property of paper comprising the formation and/or the porosity and/or a combination defined by means of the formation and/or the porosity and the cost function including the effect of at least the formation and/or the porosity.

Method and apparatus for adjusting operation of wire section

The invention concerns a loading device for the dewatering a web-forming wire, which supports and/or loads the wire of a paper machine and scrapes water from the wire surface. The loading device is loaded by a pressure medium and includes a movable loading member and a fixed base member. The loading member includes a longitudinal groove which extends the length of the loading member and the base member includes a slide rail adapted to be received in the longitudinal groove for supporting the loading member. In order to eliminate jamming phenomenon of the loading member, the loading member is supported evenly in its position in a cross machine direction and it is adapted to move towards the wire and away from the wire with aid of rollers arranged between the slide rail and the internal walls of the loading member which define the longitudinal groove.

Loading device including a loading member for supporting and dewatering a web forming wire

The invention relates to a roll for a paper or board machine comprising axle journals on whose support the roll is arranged to revolve, end flanges with which the axle journals are connected, and a mantle which is connected with the end flanges. The mantle is provided with a number of openings extending through the mantle and/or recesses formed into the outer surface of the mantle, which openings and/or recesses form a regular pattern. Solid connecting portions in the outer surface of the mantle around said openings and/or recesses are opened so that, from each opening and/or recess, there is a connection, provided in the form of a groove or an additional recess extending into the outer surface of the roll mantle, with at least each of the openings and/or recesses adjacent to it.

Doctor equipment in connection with a roll/cylinder in a paper/board machine

A method and arrangement for preventing rewetting of a web in a paper machine. In the method, a web supported by a wire is passed by at least two vacuum boxes/chambers after the last suction roll or equivalent in a web former such that, in the running direction of the web, by means of a first vacuum box/chamber and by means of a second vacuum box/chamber the transport of moisture from the wire back into the web is prevented. In the arrangement at least two vacuum boxes/chambers are arranged after the last suction roll or equivalent in a web former, and the web and wire are arranged to be dewatered by means of a first vacuum box/chamber and the transport of moisture from wire back into the web is prevented by means of a second vacuum box/chamber, the vacuum generated in first vacuum box/chamber being higher than the vacuum generated in the second vacuum box/chamber.

Method and arrangement in a web former for preventing rewetting of a web

A hood for a wire part and/or a press section in a paper/board machine including walls and a ceiling which form a closed hood around the wire part and/or press section, air-conditioning or another air-control system being arranged in connection with the hood. The hood walls have outer and inner walls which define an air duct therebetween for passing a replacement air flow into the interior of the hood, preferably toward a middle area of the paper machine, through openings in the inner wall, the replacement air keeping the interior of the hood substantially dry and clean. The walls of the hood include a vertical side wall at the driving side, which wall is preferably fixed, and a tending-side vertical side wall and a ceiling formed as a single wall which is preferably L-shaped and displaceable. The displaceable hood wall at the tending side has two parts so that the first hood wall is placed by the wire section and the second hood wall is placed by the press section.
