A new radio base station establishes a first and a second component. The first and second component carrier overlap each other. System and method for utilizing overlapping component carriers

A system for scheduling wireless data transmissions divides a band allocated to the mobile service carrier into two overlapping bands. Then each user equipment (UE) of a plurality of UEs that connects to the ground-based network of the mobile service carrier is assigned to one of the two overlapping bands. The system allocates at a given scheduling time, physical resource blocks (PRBs) to UEs up to a maximum number of PRBs available for the particular overlapping frequency band to which the UE is assigned based on a metric for the UE that is a ratio of a downlink channel quality indicator for the UE to the average data rate of the UE at the given time, giving higher priority for PRB allocation to UEs that have a larger metric than other UEs of the plurality of UEs.

There is proposed a mechanism for controlling communications conducted in multiple frequency bands, in particular for controlling interference caused by intermodulation distortion. When the UE obtains information that an interference caused by an intermodulation distortion produced by a set of first communications performed on at least a first and a second frequency and a second communication performed on a third frequency is present, an indication to the eNB for indicating that an interference situation caused by intermodulation distortion exists. The eNB receiving this indication is enabled to acquire parameters related to the interference situation caused by the intermodulation distortion, and to control, on the basis of the acquired parameters, a communication with the UE by changing communication properties for reducing the interference caused by intermodulation distortion.

Mechanism for controlling multi-band communication

Method, apparatus, and computer program product example embodiments are disclosed for cognitive radio systems and methods employing software defined radio techniques to control and configure multiradio hardware in wireless communications. The example embodiments provide a virtualized RF platform for RF configuration and system level performance optimization. The example embodiments may be flexibly distributed between system, protocol, and hardware dependent functions. The example embodiments enable transport independent usage of RF to support multiple concurrent data flows and to support local decisions as to which protocols to use to fulfill application level connectivity demands. The example embodiments allow mutual assistance in protocol selection, independent of the underlying platform implementation. The example embodiments provide a hardware control scheme using a hardware manager, a cognitive hardware engine, resource allocation, and resource performance estimation to enable a logical separation of implementation dependent functions from protocol stacks. The example embodiments may be described by means of a layered structure that allows local optimization and efficient resource sharing and that has all needed functionalities required for generalizing the control of virtually any kind of RF operation, including cognitive radio applications.

Method to control a multiradio RF platform

There are provided measures for enabling power control for inter-band multi-carrier capable devices, such as e.g. inter-band carrier aggregation capable devices. Such measures may exemplarily include calculating at least one output power restriction value for a cumulative output power for a combination of at least two uplink carriers of a terminal device, said two uplink carriers operating on different bands, signaling the calculated at least one output power restriction value to the terminal device, and performing power control for the at least two uplink carriers using the acquired at least one output power restriction value at the terminal device.
