Downlink channel monitoring

A user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The UE includes a receiver and a processor that receive a radio resource control (RRC) signal including uplink (UL) sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information. The UE also receives a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) message to activate transmission of UL SRSs The UE may then transmit UL SRSs in a time and frequency pattern based on at least the UL SRS configuration information. A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to manage and use access information in a transitional and/or multigenerational network environment. In some example implementations, an indication associated with the availability of services associated with a second network is received during the performance of procedures associated with a layer of a first network. Based at least in part on the indication associated with the availability of second network services in the location associated with a mobile device, a control signal is generated causing a reconfiguration of a mobile device. Some example embodiments arise in the context of the fifth generation (5G) networks deployed alongside Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks, such that the mobile device can be reconfigured based at least in part on the availability or unavailability of 5G service.

Method and apparatus for managing access information in a transitional network environment

A technique includes establishing, by a user device, a first connection with a first base station that is associated with a first radio access technology; sending, to the first base station, user device capability information including at least information indicating a first stand-alone peak data rate supported by the user device for the first radio access technology and information indicating a second stand-alone peak data rate supported by the user device for a second radio access technology; establishing a second connection between the user device and a second base station as part of a multi-radio access technology dual connectivity session with the user device; and receiving, by the user device from the second base station, resources for the second connection in accordance with a configured peak data rate for the second connection that is less than a stand-alone peak data rate for the second radio access technology.

Signaling for multiple radio access technology dual connectivity in wireless network

A system for determining location information for a wireless device is described. The system includes a UE, a LE and multiple LMUs. The LE sends, to the LMUs, reception instructions with characteristics of the signal transmission from the UE and each LMU receives, from the LE, the reception instructions. The UE sends a signal transmission. Each LMU receives the transmitted signal from the UE, determines locating information based at least in part of the received signal and sends the locating information to the LE. The LE receives the locating information regarding the transmitted signal and determines a location of the UE based at least in part on the received locating information. Methods, apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

There is provided a method including generating, by a network element, at least one transmission gap within data transmission performed by the network element, transmitting a control message to at least one terminal device, wherein the control message includes a first request to perform, by the at least one terminal device, a first interference measurement during the at least one transmission gap, and wherein the control message further includes a second request to perform, by the at least one terminal device, a second interference measurement during the said data transmission, receiving, from the at least one terminal device, an interference report including information that is at least partly based on the first and the second interference measurements, and providing communication resources on the basis of the received interference report.

There are disclosed measures for enhancing network performance monitoring. Such measures may for example comprise receiving a report on measurements of terminal-related network performance parameters from a terminal, acquiring information of access network-related network performance parameters, and combining the received terminal-related network performance parameters and the acquired access network-related network performance parameters into a combined network performance report.

The thus obtained availability of the unlicensed band is used for determining a secondary cell. To improve the reparation of the traffic between the primary cell and the secondary cell, timing information measurements are carried out which can be exploited to avoid interferences between the primary and the secondary cell.
