Problems associated with row crop attachments for harvesting machines are limited by replacing previously known gathering chains with a plurality of rotary elements adapted to define a stalkway formed of intermeshing rotary crop conveyors.

Row crop apparatus

In a round bale forming machine, a twine dispensing mechanism is provided having a twine dispensing arm pivotally mounted on the frame. A spring extends between the twine dispensing arm at one side of its pivotal mounting and a fixation point on the frame at the opposite side relative to the pivotal mounting of the twine dispensing arm. The spring urges the dispensing arm in a first direction away from the rest position, beyond an intermediate position closest to the roll forming region, and to a maximum stroke position. The arrangement is such that during pivotal movement of the dispensing arm from the intermediate position to the maximum stroke position the spring acts on the dispensing arm through a moment arm of increasing length. A rope control is provided to pull the dispensing arm in a second direction opposite to the first direction induced by the spring, and towards the rest position. A latch automatically latches the dispensing arm in the rest position.

Twine wrapper for round bale forming machine

There is provided a crop material roll forming machine having a frame, means on the frame defining a roll forming region, a dispensing mechanism mounted on the frame and movable from a rest position across the roll forming region to dispense material for wrapping a bale in use formed in the machine, tensioning means associated with the dispensing mechanism and operable to tension the wrapping material as it is being applied to a crop roll, and means engageable with the tensioning means to render the latter inoperative at a predetermined point in the dispensing movement of the dispensing mechanism.

The invention provides a crop harvesting machine comprising crop processing means, feeder means including feed rolls for feeding crop material to the processing means, drive means operable to drive the crop processing means, further drive means operable to drive the feeder means and detector means operable to detect foreign objects in the crop material in use handled by the machine before they reach the crop processing means, the further drive means comprising a drive reversing mechanism and a belt drive transmission with a belt drive engaging mechanism which is movable between an inoperative position and a drive-engaging position, and the detector means being operable upon detection of an undesirable object to initiate instantaneous arrest of the feed rolls and to move the belt drive engaging mechanism from its drive-engaging position to its inoperative position.

The invention comprises an improved concave supporting and adjusting mechanism for axial flow type combine harvesters wherein a supporting frame for the concave has been provided and which is adjustable in height. The concave supporting frame comprises front and rear cross bars disposed below the front and rear edges, respectively of the concave and has ends of crank arms pivotally attached thereto, the other ends of the crank arms being attached to inner ends of respective stub shafts which shafts extend through the associated side panels and which can be pivoted for adjusting the position of the supporting frame and the concave supported thereon.
