A novel catalyst composition comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate having a molar ratio of silica to alumina of at least 5:1, the aluminosilicate carrying gallium and copper, is useful in the conversion at elevated temperature of a C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 hydrocarbon feedstock into aromatic hydrocarbons.

Zeolite catalysts suitable for hydrocarbon conversion

The invention relates to a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons from a hydrocarbon feedstock rich in C.sub.2 hydrocarbons. In particular it is a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons comprising bringing into contact at a temperature between 580.degree. C. and 750.degree. C. a hydrocarbon feedstock containing at least 70% by weight of C.sub.2 hydrocarbons with a catalyst composition comprising an aluminosilicate having gallium deposited thereon and/or aluminosilicate in which cations have been exchanged with gallium ions, said aluminosilicates containing silica to alumina in a molar ratio of at least 5:1. The process affords a one-step method of upgrading C.sub.2 feedstock into aromatics.

Production of aromatics from ethane and/or ethylene

This invention relates to a process for producing liquid products e.g. gasoline blending components by conversion of a mixed paraffin/olefin gaseous feedstock over two types of catalysts. In a first stage, the mixed feedstock is brought into contact with a partially deactivated catalyst which converts olefins in the feed into liquid products. Gaseous products now rich in paraffins are separated and brought into contact in a second stage with another catalyst which is more active than that used in the first stage. The liquid products emerging from the second stage are thereafter separated and recovered. The catalyst is preferably a gallium oxide loaded MFI type zeolite.

Production of liquid products from aliphatic hydrocarbons

This invention relates to a process for converting a C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 paraffin feedstock to aromatics over a gallium loaded zeolite catalyst. The feature of the invention is to bring the ethane in the feed with a fresh or freshly regenerated catalyst first and thereafter to bring the residual catalyst from this step into contact with the remainder of the C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 feedstock. The present process has the advantage of maximizing the yields of aromatics from a mixed feedstock using a single reactor and a single charge of catalyst.

Aromatization of paraffins

This invention relates to a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbons from a feedstock containing a major proportion of methane. The feedstock, in the vapor phase and in the absence of oxygen, is brought into contact with an aluminosilicate at a temperature from 650.degree. C.-800.degree. C. The feedstock may optionally contain ethane.

Production of aromatics from hydrocarbon feedstock

This invention relates to a process for producing aromatic hydrocarbon from a feedstock comprising C.sub.3 /C.sub.4 hydrocarbons mixed with C.sub.2 hydrocarbons, especially ethane. The mixed feedstock is contacted at a temperature below 580.degree. C. with a catalyst composition comprising an aluminosilicate in which the molar ratio of silica to alumina is at least 5:1. The product is rich in aromatics and can be used as a gasoline blending component.

Production of aromatic hydrocarbons

The present invention relates to a process for upgrading low grade gasoline made from synthesis gas, especially the gasoline made from coal-based processes. The process comprises contacting in the vapour phase the low-grade gasoline either alone or admixed with a C.sub.3 /C.sub.4 hydrocarbon feed with a gallium/aluminosilicate catalyst. The product gasoline so formed has an octane rating RON (clear) above 100 and a bromine number below 2. The process enables synthesis gas and coal to be used as a source of high grade gasoline.
