A servo brake includes a thrust unit connecting a servo-piston to a primary piston in an actuation direction. The thrust unit includes a plunger with a front end in the form of a spherical cap and pressed in a cup of the primary piston and a rear end that includes a ball joint. A bearing has a base pressed on a reaction disc and a sleeve that receives the ball joint of the plunger.

An electrohydraulic servo brake includes a master brake cylinder, which is controlled by a push rod. The push rod is configured to be actuated by a first auxiliary piston via a reaction disk. A plunger piston presses on the reaction disk. An end of the push rod is connected to the first auxiliary piston by a connection apparatus. The connection apparatus includes a rest for a rated compression spring, which rest is rigidly connected to the push rod, and a central piston, which rests against the reaction disk along an axis and is surrounded by a second auxiliary piston, which is placed against the reaction disk and is moved by the spring and is held in an end position by the central piston. The second auxiliary piston is configured to recede in relation to the central piston rigidly connected to the push rod.

Current master cylinders have a free travel during the displacement of a piston () in a bore () of a master cylinder body (). Such a free travel may be reduced with the aid of a frustoconical portion () in the piston, an orifice () for communication of hydraulic fluid being situated on said inclined wall, a gap () between the inclined wall and an inner wall () of the bore allowing a passage for hydraulic fluid capable of filling a pressure chamber (). However, such inclined walls create a change in the slope of an outer wall () of the piston, this change being able to cause a separation of an inner lip () of a sealing cup (). To prevent this separation, the invention provides that the inclined wall forms a convex rounded surface ().

Master cylinder with reduced free travel

Our problem relates to a master cylinder with a U-shaped seal. Our goal is to avoid defective bleeding of hydraulic braking systems. The defects arise out of the fact that the vacuum causes the lips of the seal () to stick together and to stick against the wall (). To achieve this, reliefs () will be created on one wall () of one lip () facing the other lip () and on the edge face () of this same lip. These reliefs will prevent the lips from sticking tightly to one another and to the wall facing the edge face of the lips. This lack of sticking will prevent a vacuum from being created between the two lips and between the edge face of the lips and the wall (). As a result, the seal will be able to return to a position in which bleeding can be performed effectively.
