The present disclosure provides a heat pump system for a vehicle having a first heat source. The heat pump system includes: a first heat exchanger; a second heat exchanger; a primary loop through which coolant circulates, the primary loop passing through the first and second heat exchangers; and a secondary loop through which a refrigerant circulates. In particular, the primary loop includes a flow control device to control the direction and the flow rate of a coolant passing through the primary loop, and a bypassing line through which the coolant selectively bypasses the first heat source in the primary loop. The secondary loop is thermally coupled to the primary loop via the second heat exchanger, and the secondary loop further includes a compressor, an evaporator, and a condenser.

Heat pump system for a vehicle

The present disclosure provides an HVAC system for a vehicle having a first heat source and having a primary loop through which a coolant circulates and a secondary loop through which refrigerant circulates. The primary loop having two parallel sub-loops, namely a first sub-loop and a second sub-loop in which the coolant may circulate. The first sub-loop of the primary loop includes the first heat source, a second heat source, and a first heat exchanger. The first sub-loop may partially extend into a case of the HVAC system to place the first heat exchanger adjacent an air heater. The second sub-loop of the primary loop includes the first heat source, the second heat source, and a second heat exchanger. The HVAC system having a plurality of operation modes for efficiently conditioning air in a cabin of the vehicle.

HVAC system for a vehicle and method of use

A cooling system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle having a rotating member and using coolant in a liquid cooling system, is provided that comprises a radiator for dissipating the heat from the coolant, an electric pump for pumping the coolant through the cooling system, a mechanical pump operatively connected to the rotating member for pumping coolant through the cooling system, and a clutch for disengaging the second pump for minimizing the parasitic loss of the system and improving total fuel economy of the vehicle.
