A tire for a vehicle wheel includes a carcass structure, a belt structure, a tread, a pair of sidewalls, and at least one layer of sealing composition placed in a radially inner position with respect to the tread. The carcass structure includes at least one carcass ply shaped in a substantially toroidal configuration. Opposite lateral edges of the carcass structure are associated with respective bead wires. The belt structure includes at least one belt strip. The sealing composition includes at least one high molecular weight amorphous polymer, at least one low molecular weight amorphous polymer, and at least one reinforcing filler. The sealing composition is substantially non-crosslinked and has a flowability value, measured at a temperature of 100&#xb0; C. and at a pressure of 30 bar, not higher than 30 cm/s. A process for producing the tire for a vehicle wheel is also disclosed.

A tire for a vehicle wheel includes at least one first component and at least one second component. The at least one first component includes a first elastomeric material crosslinked in substantial absence of sulfur. The at least one second component includes a second elastomeric material crosslinked with sulfur. The at least one first component is in contact with the at least one second component. The first elastomeric material includes an elastomeric polymer including carboxylic groups. The first elastomeric material is crosslinked by reacting the elastomeric polymer including carboxylic groups with an epoxidized liquid organic compound. The epoxidized liquid organic compound comprises epoxide groups located internally along a molecule of the epoxidized liquid organic compound. The second elastomeric material includes at least one elastomeric polymer functionalized with at least one epoxide group, at least one carboxylic group, or at least one epoxide group and at least one carboxylic group.

Tire for a vehicle wheel and process for producing the tire

A tire for a motor vehicle includes at least one carcass ply, a belt structure radially external to the at least one carcass ply, a tread band radially external to the belt structure, a pair of sidewalls axially-external to the at least one carcass ply, and a pair of beads. The beads include bead wires or circumferentially-inextensible annular inserts. Opposite lateral edges of the at least one carcass ply are associated with respective beads. The at least one carcass ply includes a first composition having an elastic modulus at 70&#xb0; C. less than or equal to 5.0 MPa and a viscous modulus at 70&#xb0; C. less than or equal to 0.50 MPa. The sidewalls include a second composition having an elastic modulus at 70&#xb0; C. greater than or equal to 3.5 MPa and a viscous modulus at 70&#xb0; C. less than or equal to 0.50 MPa.

An antiabrasive band includes a vulcanized elastomeric compound including at least one natural or synthetic rubber. A value of a loss factor of the compound at 70&#xb0; C. is less than or equal to 0.130. A value of a storage modulus of the compound at 70&#xb0; C. is greater than or equal to 6 MPa. A tire for a vehicle wheel is also disclosed, including at least one carcass ply and a pair of beads. A first edge of the at least one carcass ply is folded externally around one or more first bead wires and a second edge of the at least one carcass ply is folded externally around one or more second bead wires. Each bead includes one or more respective bead wires, a bead filling, and the antiabrasive band.

Tire for a vehicle wheel having an antiabrasive band

A high performance tire includes a carcass provided with at least one carcass ply, a belt including two or more layers of reinforcing cords parallel to each other in a layer and crossed with respect to those of an adjacent layer, applied circumferentially on the carcass, a radially-external layer of circumferentially-oriented reinforcing cords applied on the belt, and a tread band comprising an underlayer and an external layer. The underlayer may have a hardness which is substantially constant over a temperature range between 23&deg; C. and 100&deg; C. The underlayer may also have an elastic modulus which is substantially constant over a temperature range between 70&deg; C. and 100&deg; C. Additionally, the underlayer may be made from an elastomer compound comprising reinforcing fibers and hardening resins. Further, the underlayer may have a hardness and an elastic modulus which remain substantially constant between 70&deg; C. and 100&deg; C. A method for making the tire is also disclosed.

Low rolling resistance tire for vehicles having a composite tread

A method for determining behavior of a viscoelastic material at a first temperature includes performing five or more measurements of a dynamic parameter as a function of deformation at each of at least a second, third, and fourth temperature. Eleven or more data points are chosen from the measurements. Each data point comprises a value of the dynamic parameter, an associated deformation, and an associated temperature. Values of the eleven parameters are determined by inserting at least eleven of the data points into a first equation. The first temperature and the values of the eleven parameters are inserted into the first equation. The dynamic parameter is approximated as a function of the deformation at the first temperature using the first equation. A related apparatus is also disclosed.
