A coupling used to transfer fluid between two conduits includes a seal arrangement that permits an inner sleeve to move axially and angularly without fluid leaking from the coupling. The coupling also includes a pair of coupling members coupled to the inner sleeve, around each end of the inner sleeve. The inner sleeve includes tapered ends sized to receive a seal including a spherical lip. Each coupling member includes a tapered end that compresses each seal during assembly of the coupling. The seal spherical lips maintain sealable contact between the inner sleeve and the coupling first and second members.

Method and apparatus for assembling couplings for transferring fluids

A fuel system for a gas turbine engine having a fuel conduit carried within an outer containment member for receiving and containing leakage from the fluid conduit. The fuel conduit includes an end that carries an elongated ferrule that has a first, enlarged head end to receive a connecting nut and a second end for receiving an end of the fuel conduit and for spacing the end of the fuel conduit from the head end of the ferrule. The ferrule has a body portion intermediate the first and second ends that has a tapered outer surface so that the body portion has thicker side wall adjacent the head end than that adjacent the second end.

Turbine engine fuel supply system

An expansion joint includes a pair of tubular fittings joined together by a bellows for accommodating differential movement therebetween. The fittings include balls at respective distal ends thereof which engage complementary sockets fixedly joined to opposite ends of the bellows. The respective ball and sockets additionally accommodate pivotal and rotary movement. The bellows allows pressure and spring forces to engage the sockets against their respective balls for continuously seating the balls in the sockets during operation and maintaining effective seals against leakage.
