A method of provisioning car access in a vehicle includes establishing, at data processing hardware, a secure connection between a production tool and more than one low energy communication node of the vehicle. The method also includes acquiring, at the data processing hardware, communication node information from the production tool regarding the more than one low energy node of the vehicle, the more than one low energy node having at least one main node and at least one satellite node. The method further includes communicating, from the data processing hardware, the communication node information about the at least one main node and at least one satellite node, and determining, by the data processing hardware, a mounting location of the at least one satellite node according to signal characteristic data of at least one low energy signal data packet from the at least one satellite node.

System and method of provisioning a node network

A method for determining a location of a vehicle access device relative to a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes receiving, at a first communication node of the vehicle, an advertisement from the vehicle access device, and transmitting a connection request to the vehicle access device associated with the received advertisement. The method includes establishing, at the first communication node, a connection with the vehicle access device, and determining a general location of the vehicle access device. When the general location of the vehicle access device is less than a threshold distance, the method includes transmitting, from the first communication node, a high duty cycle advertisement command to a second communication node in communication with the first communication node. The method includes receiving, at the first communication node, a signal from the vehicle access device, the signal indicative of a location of the vehicle access device relative to the vehicle.

System and method for locating a wireless communication device with respect to a vehicle

A method includes determining a distance between a vehicle access device and a vehicle. The method also includes activating at least one communication node in response to the distance being less than a threshold distance, and transmitting a signal from the at least one communication node. The method further includes gathering a plurality of received signal strength indication values corresponding to the signal, filtering the plurality of received signal strength indication values, and identifying at least one communication node corresponding to a highest value of the plurality of received signal strength indication values. The method also includes determining whether the vehicle access device is disposed in an interior portion of the vehicle or on an exterior of the vehicle based on the highest value of the plurality of received signal strength indication values.

System and method for communicating with a vehicle

A communication system includes a control module, a primary wireless communication node, and a plurality of secondary wireless communication nodes. The primary wireless communication node is in communication with the control module. The primary wireless communication node is in communication with each of the plurality of secondary wireless communication nodes through a common communication line.

A system for mitigating relay station attack in a wireless communication system is provided. The system may include a first wireless communication node and a second wireless communication node. The first wireless communication node is operable to transmit data including an encrypted transmit power value. The second wireless communication node is operable to receive the data, decrypt the encrypted transmit power value, and determine a received signal strength indication value of the data. The second wireless communication node may also be operable to compare the received signal strength indication value to the decrypted transmit power value and prevent communication between the first wireless communication node and the second wireless communication node based on the comparison between the received signal strength indication value and the decrypted transmit power value.

System and method for mitigating relay station attack

A method for accessing a vehicle includes determining a charge level of a battery of a first vehicle access device. The method also includes creating a permission scheme for a second vehicle access device. The method further includes communicating the permission scheme to a vehicle and accessing the vehicle with the second vehicle access device.
