Performance of applications run on a distributed processing structure including a grid of processing units is automatically tested by: running at least one application on the distributed processing structure; loading the application with processing workload to thereby produce processing workload on the distributed processing structure; sensing the operating status of the processing units in the distributed processing structure under the processing workload and producing information signals indicative of such operating status; collecting these information signals; providing a rule engine and selectively modifying, as a function of the rules in the rule engine and the information signals collected, at least one of: the processing workload on the application, and the operating status of the processing units in the grid.

Method and system for automatically testing performance of applications run in a distributed processing structure and corresponding computer program product

To check the functionality of a content Delivery Network in which the contents made available by at least a Content Provider are made available to a plurality of surrogate sites (POP, POP, POP, . . . ) in the aforesaid contents are included fictitious contents (&#x3c6;, &#x3c6;(i), &#x3c6;) which are selectively recognizable but inaccessible to users and Content. Providers. The functionality of the network is checked verifying the availability of the aforesaid fictitious contents (&#x3c6;, &#x3c6;(i), &#x3c6;) at the surrogate sites (POP, POP, POP, . . . ). The aforesaid fictitious contents are marked with information pertaining to time (TTL), and localization. It is thus possible to verify the updating of the contents made available at the various surrogate sites (POP, POP, POP, . . . ) as well as the proper operation of the network from the geographic point of view, also in regards to the delivery of the contents in conditions of minimum service time.

Method for checking the functionality of a content delivery network related system and computer product

An arrangement which jointly exploits an agent component installed in a server-side portion of client-server architecture for emulating requests of actual clients of the client-server architecture and measuring a server execution time indicative of a time elapsed between reception of an emulated end-user request at a server component and generation of a result of said emulated end-user request at said server component; information stored in a server log file about a hit end to end response time, i.e., the time elapsed between the instant in which the end-user sends a request to the server component and the instant in which result of the request reaches the end-user. From the server execution time and the hit response time, the delay due to the network connecting the server-side portion of the client-server architecture to a client-side portion may be determined. The network delay and the server execution time are then used for monitoring performance of the client-server architecture by distinguishing network related problems from server-related problems or even from client-related problems.
