A carburetor has a housing wherein a control drum is rotatably mounted. A section of an intake channel is formed in the carburetor. A subsection of this section is formed in the control drum. The control drum controls the free flow cross section of the intake channel. A fuel opening is connected to a fuel chamber via an unbranched fuel channel which opens into the subsection of the intake channel. A simple configuration of the carburetor is achieved by the carburetor including an electrically actuated valve which controls the flow of fuel through the fuel channel. For a method for operating an internal combustion engine with a carburetor, a temperature (T) is determined before or during the starting of the engine and that the flow of fuel through the fuel channel during the starting of the engine is controlled in dependence upon the temperature (T).

Carburetor and method for operating an internal combustion engine having said carburetor

A carburetor for a hand-guided power tool has a carburetor housing and a carburetor rotor supported rotatably in the carburetor housing about an axis of rotation. A needle is disposed on the carburetor rotor and projects into a fuel opening of the carburetor. An adjusting element is operatively connected to the needle so as adjust a position of the needle relative to the carburetor rotor. The adjusting element has an engagement contour that is to be engaged by a tool for adjusting the adjusting element. A securing contour that is fixedly connected to the carburetor rotor is provided. The securing contour, at any point of the securing contour, has a spacing to the axis of rotation of at least approximately 10 mm.

Carburetor for a hand-guided power tool and hand-guided power tool

A handheld work apparatus such as a bed redefiner or edger has a handle for guiding the work apparatus over the ground. The apparatus also includes a drive motor which drives a tool in rotation. During operation, the apparatus is moved over the ground by the operator in a direction of movement. The tool is covered at least partially by a protective hood and a sliding skid is arranged on that end of the protective hood located at the front in the direction of movement. The sliding skid has an abutment surface for a flexible spray guard fixed to the protective hood. The spray guard is fastened to the protective hood in its fastening region located at the front viewed in the direction of movement. The spray guard is movable in its protective region located at the rear viewed in the direction of movement.

Work apparatus

A hedge trimmer having a rear handle, a tubular handle and a blade arrangement with at least one cutter bar disposed in a cutter bar plane. An internal combustion engine drives the cutter bars in a reciprocating manner, and has a combustion chamber and a crankshaft mounted in a crankcase so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation. The combustion chamber faces the rear handle, and the crankcase faces the blade arrangement. The blade arrangement has a longitudinal central axis, and the hedge trimmer has a longitudinal plane that is disposed parallel to the axis of rotation of the crankshaft and transverse to the cutter bar plane. The longitudinal central axis of the blade arrangement lies in the longitudinal plane of the hedge trimmer.

Hedge trimmer

A starter device for an internal combustion engine has a drive element and a output element. The drive element enables driving the starter device in rotation. The output element is supported rotatably about an axis of rotation and has a coupling device for releasably coupling the starter device to the crankshaft. A coil spring is arranged operatively between drive element and output element in an axial direction between a first abutment at the drive element and a second abutment at the output element. The first and second abutments have a first spacing relative to one another at least at one circumferential location in a first area and a second spacing relative to one another in a second area. The first and second spacing are measured parallel to the axis of rotation. The first spacing is smaller than the second spacing. The first area is radially outside of the second area.

Starter device

A connector for the connection of hoses, comprising a first connection stub having a first free end for receiving a first hose, and a second connection stub for receiving a second hose. The first hose has an inner diameter that is smaller than the inner diameter of the second hose, and the second connection stub is provided with a shoulder that, in a direction toward the second free end, decreases from a first outer diameter to a second outer diameter, with the first outer diameter being larger than the inner diameter of the first hose. The second outer diameter can be smaller or the same as the inner diameter of the first hose.

Connector

A power tool has a working tool that is driven by a two-stroke engine that has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating within the cylinder and delimiting a combustion chamber in the cylinder. The two-stroke engine has a crankcase with a rotatably supported crankshaft that is driven by the piston with a connecting rod. Transfer passages connect the crankcase to the combustion chamber in at least one position of the piston. A mixture passage intake supplies a fuel/air mixture, and an air passage supplies combustion air. The combustion chamber has an exhaust port. The two-stroke engine has a transverse plane dividing the cylinder in a direction of the longitudinal cylinder axis. The exhaust port is arranged on one side of the transverse plane, and air passage and mixture passage are arranged on opposite sides of the transverse plane.

Power tool

A power tool is driven by a two-stroke engine. The two-stroke engine has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating within the cylinder. The cylinder has a combustion chamber delimited by the piston. The two-stroke engine has a crankcase and a crankshaft rotatably supported in the crankcase and driven by the piston with a connecting rod. The two-stroke engine has one or more transfer passages connecting the crankcase to the combustion chamber in at least one position of the piston. The two-stroke engine has a mixture passage that is connected to a piston-controlled mixture intake provided at the cylinder and supplies a fuel/air mixture. The combustion chamber has an exhaust port provided within the cylinder. The two-stroke engine has a transverse plane dividing the cylinder parallel to and along the longitudinal cylinder axis. The exhaust port and the mixture intake are arranged on the same side of the transverse plane.

A portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw () includes a housing () wherein an internal combustion engine () and a carburetor () are mounted. A throttle lever () is provided which is pivotally journalled on a handle (). The handle () is connected to the housing () via at least one antivibration element (). A vibration gap () is configured between the handle () and the housing (). A transmitting unit () is provided for transmitting the pivot movement of the throttle lever () to the carburetor (). The transmitting unit includes a rigid transmitting element () which bridges the vibration gap (). A simple configuration and a substantial decoupling of the relative movement between the housing () and the handle () from the actuating movement of the carburetor is achieved in that the transmitting element () is rotatably journalled and the pivot movement of the throttle lever () is transmitted as a rotation about a rotational axis () lying transverse to the vibration gap ().

Portable handheld work apparatus

A manually guided implement comprising an engine housing that at least partially surrounds a cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The engine housing has a wall provided with an opening for a spark plug that is disposed in the cylinder. A spark plug connector arrangement is placed over the outside of the spark plug and extends through the spark plug opening. Externally of the wall of the engine housing the spark plug connector arrangement is provided with a mechanism for insertion or application of a tool.

A two-stroke engine has a cylinder defining a combustion chamber which is delimited by an upwardly and downwardly moving piston which drives a crankshaft via a connecting rod. The crankshaft is rotatably journalled in the crankcase (). The two-stroke engine includes an inlet for fuel and an outlet for exhaust gases. At pregiven piston positions, the combustion chamber is connected to the crankcase via a piston window and at least one transfer channel. The transfer channels open via transfer windows into the combustion chamber and open with the transfer opening into the crankcase. The transfer opening and transfer windows open into a region at the cylinder bore which is passed over by the piston. To obtain a delayed inflow of the air/fuel mixture from the crankcase, the transfer opening is not yet fully closed for a piston moved toward the crankcase when the transfer windows begin to open.
