An elevator car ('), includes a first safety brake (&#x2032;), including a first electronic safety actuator (), the first safety brake (&#x2032;) positioned on a first side of the elevator car (&#x2032;) at a first height (&#x2032;); and a second safety brake (&#x2032;), including a second electronic safety actuator (), the second safety brake (&#x2032;) positioned on a second side of the elevator car (&#x2032;) at a second height (&#x2032;); the first height is different to the second height.

A blocking device () for blocking access to an door unlocking device () of an elevator system () comprises: an outer element (), which is introducible into an access opening () providing access to the door unlocking device (); and an inner element (), which is introducible into the outer element (). The inner element () is configured for bringing the blocking device () into a fixing configuration, in which the outer element () is fixedly engaged with the access opening (), by introducing the inner element () into the outer element ().

Blocking device

A movable car mounted governor assembly for an elevator car is provided. The assembly includes a chassis releasably mounted to an upright of an elevator car and a governor operationally mounted to the chassis. The chassis is configured to move from a first position to a second position relative the upright, wherein in the first position the chassis is fixedly secured to the upright and in the second position the chassis is not fixedly secured to the upright.

Movable car mounted overspeed governor

An exemplary elevator assembly includes an elevator car having a frame member. At least one toe guard panel is moveable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the toe guard panel is situated to provide a vertical surface beneath the elevator car and the toe guard panel has an end spaced a first distance from the elevator car. In the second position the toe guard panel is situated with a second, shorter distance between the end and the elevator car. A moving mechanism coupled with the toe guard panel selectively moves the toe guard panel from the first position into the second position. An instigator member situated in a selected vertical position interacts with the moving mechanism to begin movement of the toe guard panel from the first position when the frame member of the elevator car is approximately at the selected vertical position.

Toe guard assembly for an elevator system

An assembly () controls the amount of downward movement of a counterweight () within an elevator system (). By limiting the downward movement of the counterweight (), a desired overhead clearance above an elevator car () can be maintained. One example includes at least one safety device () on top of the elevator car () to provide an indication for when a holding member () should allow a stop member of the assembly () to move into a position to limit the downward movement of the counterweight (). In one example, the stop member () moves into an employed position by the force of gravity and is manually moveable back into a retracted position when it is not needed. One example includes a guide member () that facilitates controlling the position of the stop member () when it is in the employed position.

Retractable stop for maintaining overhead clearance above an elevator car

An elevator car () comprises a cover () extending over at least a portion of the top surface of the car (). The cover () is mounted on a resilient support (). The car () further comprises means () for detecting displacement of the cover corresponding to the weight of a person being applied to the cover. If such displacement is detected, normal operation of the car () is prevented.

Elevator top of car safety

An elevator car includes a cross-head portion and a balustrade mounted to the cross-head portion. The balustrade is moveable from a retracted position for normal operation of the car to a deployed position for inspection operation of the car. The car further includes a second retractable safety device also mounted to the cross-head for preventing or limiting movement of the car. The balustrade includes at least one control for operating the elevator car during the inspection operation, the control being arranged so that the control cannot be operated when the balustrade is in the retracted position.
