Disclosed is a method of transmitting data over a plurality of wireless frequency bands between a transmitter and a receiver during one of a plurality of rounds, the method comprising: computing a target spacing in time between a start time of transmission in a first band and a start time of transmission in a second band dependent on a first data rate in the one round and in the first band; commencing transmitting, by the transmitter, a first frame of data over the first band at the first data rate; waiting for the computed target spacing to elapse, and then commencing transmitting, by the transmitter, a second frame of data over the second hand at a second data rate.

Wireless backhaul system

A method and apparatus for transmitting variable length messages on a network in fixed length slots including the provision of a source identifier field in the header of each slot, the source identifier field including a code which is uniquely associated with the message to be transmitted. The fixed length slots are then transmitted on the network and reassembly of the slots by a reassembly machine is controlled in accordance with the identifier codes in the slot.

Transfer of messages in a multiplexed system

A method of controlling the flow of traffic in synchronous transfer mode (ATM) network ( ), which brings into possible existence a class (class II) of ATM cells. The ATM network ( ) comprises one or more ATM switches ( ) coupled by links ( ) providing communication channels between the ATM switches ( ). The method subjects the class II cells received at an input port of a particular ATM switch ( ) to control, originating within the switching element of that ATM switch. The method allows only up to a fixed number of class II cells from a particular input port to be in the switch awaiting onward transfer. Although the control is on class, it nonetheless tends to produce fairness in service among different connections.
