A method of and a device for operating a service discovery and selection function in a telecommunications system, wherein the service discovery and selection function registers a service profile of a service provided by at least one service producer of the telecommunications system. The service profile among others includes consistency group information and proximity information. The consistency group information identifies instances of the service sharing a same state and the proximity information identifies deployment of the instances in the telecommunications system. The service discovery and selection function, from the service profile, based on service selection criteria, selects a single service instance of the service for a service consumer of the telecommunications system requesting the service, and identifies the selected service instance to the service consumer.

A method for managing storage resources in a network system is described. The method includes registering, by a storage resource controller, with a network repository function; receiving, by the storage resource controller, an operation request from a consumer service; selecting, by the storage resource controller, a resource management instance from a plurality of resource management instances managed by the storage resource controller for assignment to the consumer service; forwarding, by the storage resource controller, the operation request to the selected resource management instance; receiving, by the storage resource controller, an operation response from the selected resource management instance; and forwarding, by the storage resource controller, the operation response to the consumer service.

Methods are disclosed for provisioning and/or controlling operator profiles in terminals, each having an integrated circuit card identified by an integrated circuit card identifier. According to one aspect, a discovery server is configured with an authorization table including associations of integrated circuit card identifier, service provider identifier, and operator identifier(s). The discovery server receives, from a data preparation node, an event registration request that includes a number of elements. The discovery server determines whether the event is authorized. If so, the event is registered. This enables a terminal to seek to retrieve the event, to contact the data preparation node, and to eventually perform the profile operation. Some embodiments enable the network-initiated provisioning and/or controlling of operator profiles in machine-to-machine devices.

A method of obtaining user subscription data pertaining to a subscriber in a telecommunication network, said method comprising the steps of receiving, by a coexistence function, a trigger from a Network Function, NF, said trigger indicating a need for user subscription data pertaining to said subscriber, determining, by said coexistence function, that said user subscription data is not available in a Unified Data Repository of said telecommunication network, obtaining, by said coexistence function, said user subscription data from a user data repository, upon said determining that said user subscription data is not available with said unified data repository, wherein said user data repository and said unified data repository are accessible by two separate communication interfaces, and transmitting, by said coexistence function, to said NF, said obtained user subscription data. A corresponding coexistence function and computer program product are also presented herein.

Methods and network nodes of a wireless communications network are disclosed. The network nodes are operable to initiate a plurality of authentication mechanisms. Responsive to receipt of a request for authentication transmitted by a terminal device of the wireless communications network, the network nodes are configured to select an authentication mechanism from the plurality of authentication mechanisms; and are further configured to initiate the selected authentication mechanism to authenticate the terminal device with the wireless communications network.

The present invention faces the issue of improving isolation of network slices in network slicing deployments where a centralized User Data Management, which includes subscription information for all users in a network with a plurality of network slices, is shared by the plurality of network slices. To solve this issue, the present invention provides for a distributed slice data repository for handling slice selection data for users equipped with a user equipment, UE, in a network that includes a plurality of network slices. This distributed slice data repository has: a slice user data repository, SDR, per network slice basis and including subscription information for each UE to be served by the network slice, and a slice selection repository, SSR, which is external to any network slice, shared by the plurality of network slices, and only includes slice selection data for every UE in the network.

A subscriber server routes a terminating call in a network that includes a circuit switched (CS) network, a packet switched (PS) network, and an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The server receives a request for routing information in relation to the terminating call from a CS node in the CS network. A determination is made at server based on whether a UE associated with the terminating call is registered in the IMS and the UE has access to the PS network. The server instructs the CS node to route the terminating call in the CS network when the UE is not registered in the IMS or when the UE does not have access to the PS network. The server instructs the CS node to send the terminating call to the IMS for handling when the UE is registered in the IMS and when the UE has access to the PS network.

Data management at a directory database having a data entry in a directory includes associating the data entry with first status information representing a first current storage status of the data entry at the directory database. The directory database receives, from a client, a request for modifying the data entry, and in association with the request, second status information representing a second current storage status of the data entry at the directory database. The second current storage status indicates a latest available current storage status of the data entry as available to the client. The directory database will modify the data entry according to the request if the first status information and the second status information are determined to match with respect to the first and second current storage statuses of the data entry at the directory database.

A method and arrangement in a User Data Repository, UDR, () for selecting an Application Front End (-) in a communication network to receive an event notification. An associated Application Type and Group Identifier, identifying an accessible portion of the network, are stored in a database () for each of a plurality of Application Front Ends. The Group Identifiers may be updated in the database if predefined conditions () are met, for example when a UDR operation requests modifying user data. When a subsequent event notification procedure is initiated, the UDR () selects an Application FE to receive the event notification based on the Application Type and Group Identifier of the selected Application FE. Load-distribution weights may also be assigned to each of the Application FEs, and may be considered in the selection process.

User data convergence (UDC) notification management

A LDAP collision detection mechanism and a method are described herein that allow a LDAP client to detect and avoid an update operation collision on an entry within a LDAP directory. The method includes the steps of: (a) reading data from the entry in the directory; (b) processing the retrieved data; (c) sending a request to modify the data in the entry in the directory, wherein the client is assured that the requested modification will not be performed by the directory if another client had previously performed a modification on the data within the entry that was originally read by the client. There are several different embodiments of the LDAP collision detection mechanism and the method described herein.
