An electronic device is configured to determine apart () of a light effect for a first period and determine a succeeding part () of the light effect for a second period succeeding the first period. The electronic device is further configured to determine a likelihood that a second original light command specifying a part () of a light effect for the second period will not arrive at its destination and transmit an original first light command or determine and transmit an alternative first light command in dependence on the likelihood and/or the determined succeeding part of the light effect. The original first light command specifies the part of the light effect and the alternative first light command is determined based on the part and the succeeding part of the light effect and specifies a portion of the light effect for both the first period and the second period.

Transmitting an alternative light command for a longer period

The invention relates to a lighting device which is operable in two modes. In a first operating mode the flux of a lighting effect having a specified chromaticity is rendered based on the maximum (luminous) flux at which the chromaticity can be rendered by the lighting device. This can cause the maximum (luminous) flux across a range of colors that the lighting device can render to vary greatly. For example, a white color may be rendered at a far greater intensity than a primary color. In a second operating mode the specified chromaticity is rendered based on a predetermined maximum (luminous) flux for that specified chromaticity, or a color range that it is comprised in, or a predetermined maximum (luminous) flux for one or more color channels that are used in combination to render the light effect. This reduces the differences in maximum (luminous) flux of lighting effects rendered across the range of colors that are rendered by the lighting device.

Lighting device with limited light output mode

An electronic device is configured to identify a dynamic light scene () to be rendered, determine one or more current, previous and/or planned light settings () for one or more lights (), determine a target dynamic light scene () based on said identified dynamic light scene and said one or more light settings, and render said target dynamic light scene on at least one light ().

Rendering a dynamic light scene based on one or more light settings

A system comprising: a controller configured to apply at least one illumination setting to at least one illumination source, thereby causing the illumination source to emit light according to the applied illumination setting; electronic storage accessible to the controller; and a locking device configured to generate a lock command pertaining to the applied illumination setting, wherein the system is configured to mark the illumination setting as locked in the electronic storage in response to the lock command; wherein the controller is configured to receive a control command pertaining to the applied illumination setting, and modify the applied illumination setting according that control command unless the illumination setting is marked as locked when it is received, wherein the illumination setting is not modified in response to that control command in that event.

Lighting control

The invention relates to a connected device system that is adapted to form a low-bandwidth wireless mesh network () between a plurality of devices (). The connected device system () comprises multiple output devices () for outputting human-perceptible stimuli and a controller device () for controlling the stimulus outputs of the multiple output devices via the wireless mesh network. The controller device is adapted to switch a group of the multiple output devices from a first control mode, in the stimulus outputs are controlled by control messages of a first type, to a second control mode, in which the stimulus outputs are controlled by control messages of a second type. The control messages of the second type are transmitted to the output devices of the group at a higher rate than the control messages of the first type.

Connected device system with streaming control mode

In a wireless mesh network, a battery operated node can select a parent node via which messages are routed to further nodes. The parent node can initially be selected based on signal strength. The node receives acknowledgements for messages sent, if they arrive. The node calculates a reliability indicator of the parent node based on the number of messages for which an acknowledgement has been received. If the reliability indicator exceeds a predetermined threshold the node selects a new parent node, based on second selection criteria. For example, the node with the next greatest signal strength.

Reliable reporting in wireless mesh network

A method of controlling luminaires of a lighting system based on a current mode of an entertainment device, the method comprising: whilst the entertainment device is in an active mode: controlling one or more of the luminaires associated with the entertainment device to render an entertainment effect, receiving a lighting instruction identifying a plurality of the luminaires and a lighting effect to be rendered by them, determining that at least a first of the plurality of luminaires is one of the luminaires currently rendering the entertainment effect, controlling at least a second of the plurality of luminaries, which is not currently rendering the entertainment effect, to render the lighting effect whilst the first luminaire continues to render the entertainment effect, and electronically storing an indication of the lighting effect; and in response to the entertainment device switching to an inactive mode, controlling the first luminaire to render the lighting effect using the electronically stored indication.

Methods, system and apparatus for controlling luminaires of a lighting system based on a mode of an entertainment device

The invention relates to a controlled device ('), a system (&#x2032;) comprising such controlled device (&#x2032;) and a controller device (), a method for setting up such controlled device (&#x2032;) and a software product for a set up processor (&#x2032;) of such controlled device (&#x2032;). In order to allow the controlled device (&#x2032;) to persistently stay within the framework of the system (&#x2032;) over its power cycles while avoiding or at least reducing a need for a costly element like a NVRAM on the side of the controlled device (&#x2032;). Rather than providing costly NVRAM in the controlled device (&#x2032;), the controlled device (&#x2032;) is just provided with fixed information which allows the controlled device (&#x2032;) to receive or obtain the variable control data from the controller device () as an outside source.

Controlled device and method for setting up same

A lighting system controller, a lighting system control method and software program product are provided for controlling a lighting device based on a trigger signal, such as a presence detection signal from a presence sensor. Instead of switching the lighting device to a fixed light setting at all times when the trigger signal is received, the initial light output of the lighting device is determined. The lighting device is then controlled according to a fixed light setting (e.g. white light at full brightness) if the determined initial light output is within a predetermined range, and else it is controlled according to a function relative to the determined initial light output. For example, if the lighting device is participating in a romantic scene emitting predominantly red light the lighting device may switch to reddish white light instead of the full white light and/or the brightness level of the light is lowered compared to the fixed light setting.

Sensor light setting blending

A configuration system () for configuring a first device () in a lighting system is disclosed. The configuration system () comprises a memory () arranged for storing one or more light settings (), which light settings () are defined by one or more light setting rules (). The configuration system () further comprises a communication unit () arranged for communicating with the first device (). The configuration system () further comprises a processor () arranged for identifying a device property () of the first device () based on information received from the first device () via the communication unit (). The processor () is further arranged for accessing one or more light settings () stored in the memory (), and for associating the device property () with at least one of the one or more light setting rules () of at least one of the one or more light settings () only if the device property () is compliant with the respective light setting rule (), and for storing the association. This method allows a user to connect the first device () to the configuration system (), whereupon the configuration system () determines the functionality of the first device () in the lighting system based on the light settings () stored in the memory ().

Method for configuring a device in a lighting system

A method, device and computer program product for (near) synchronous control of networked lighting devices is presented. In networked lighting systems, a control command sent to the networked lighting devices is limited in length and as such it is not always possible to include the identifiers of the networked lighting devices, as well as the color point and/or intensity level they should change to in a single control command. However, sending multiple control commands in sequence can result in the undesired effect that these lighting devices change light output out-of-sync. The invention proposes to determine an approximate color point and/or approximate intensity level in, respectively, a color space and/or intensity space of a lower resolution. This allows a control command to comprise the identifiers of the networked lighting devices, as well as the approximate color point and/or approximate intensity level for (near) synchronous control of the networked lighting devices.
