A flow control unit for use with an endoscope reprocessing device, the flow control unit including: a main fluid supply line coupled to an inlet, the inlet receives processing fluid from a fluid source, at least one supply channel supplying the processing fluid to an internal channel of an endoscope, the at least one supply channel is coupled to the main fluid supply line, a dedicated switchable valve in the supply channel for opening the supply channel to pass the processing fluid through the supply channel or closing the supply channel to block the flow, and a processor for operating the switchable valve according to a reprocessing routine, and upon termination of the reprocessing routine, set the switchable valve to a safe switching state in which a flow rate through the main supply line is lower than a maximum flow rate through the main supply line.

A method for operating a reconditioning apparatus for cleaning and disinfecting a medical instrument(s), the medical instrument having an internal channel(s). The method including: receiving the medical instrument(s) in a reconditioning chamber; connecting the internal channel(s) to a fluid connection of fluid connections in the reconditioning chamber; flushing the internal channel(s) with a reconditioning fluid; detecting an identifying feature of medical instrument(s) indicating a type of the medical instrument(s); comparing the detected type with data sets stored in a database and, of the fluid connections, provide an allocation of a fluid connection connected to the internal channel(s) on a basis of the identified type; and subsequent to the flushing, actuating a compressed air source to apply compressed air to the allocated fluid connection such that reconditioning fluid present in the at least one internal channel is blown out of the channel.

Method for operating a reconditioning apparatus and a medical system

A reprocessing apparatus for cleaning and/or disinfecting a medical instrument including a fluid container for a reprocessing fluid and a reprocessing device. The reprocessing device includes: a reprocessing space in which the medical instrument is introduced for reprocessing; a fluid line for connection to at least one channel of the medical instrument, wherein the fluid line is configured to transport the reprocessing fluid to the at least one channel; a bubble introducing apparatus for introducing gas bubbles into the fluid line; and a gas bubble speed determining apparatus for determining a speed of the gas bubbles in the fluid line. The gas bubble speed determining apparatus includes a camera for capturing successive images of at least a portion of the gas bubbles in the fluid line.

Reprocessing apparatus and method for operating a reprocessing apparatus for cleaning and/or disinfecting a medical instrument

A reconditioning apparatus including: a chamber for a medical instrument having a channel(s); fluid connections in the chamber connected to the channel(s) to flush them with a reconditioning fluid; a memory for storing data sets, each data set comprising information relating to an allocation of the fluid connections to a specific type of medical instrument; and an input device for detecting an identifying feature; wherein the input device detects the identifying feature of the medical instrument, in which information relating to the type of the medical instrument is stored; a controller compares the type of the medical instrument identified based on the read-out information with data sets in the memory and establishes an allocation of a fluid connection(s) connected to the channel(s) on the basis of the identified type and actuates a compressed air source to apply compressed air to the allocated fluid connections to blow out the channel(s).
