A copolymer of propylene with hexene-1 containing from 5 to 9% by weight of recurring units derived from hexene-1, having a melting temperature from 125 to 140&#xb0; C. and Melt Flow Rate (ASTM D1238, 230/2.16 Kg) from 0.1 to 3 g/10 min., is used to produce blown films having valuable mechanical and optical properties.

Copolymers of propylene with hexene-1 and blown films obtained from them

A copolymer of propylene with hexene-1 containing from 5 to 9% by weight of recurring units derived from hexene-1, having a melting temperature from 125&#xb0; C. to 140&#xb0; C. and Melt Flow Rate (ASTM D1238, 230&#xb0; C./2.16 Kg) from 0.1 to 3 g/10 min., is used to produce blown films having valuable mechanical and optical properties.

A masterbatch composition comprising (percent by weight): A) 15%-50% of a polypropylene component having a melt flow rate of from 1 to 250 g/10 min.; and B) 50%-85% of an olefin polymer partially soluble in xylene at room temperature, containing from 60% to 85% by weight of ethylene; said masterbatch composition having (i) a value of the intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature ([&#x3b7;]) equal to or lower than 2.9 dl/g, and (ii) a value of the ratio MFR/[&#x3b7;], , , , equal to or lower than 4, is added to polyolefin materials to obtain final compositions suitable for injection molding.

Polyolefin masterbatch and composition suitable for injection molding

Polyolefin compositions comprising (percent by weight): 1) 55-80% of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer containing up to 15% of ethylene and/or C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) and having an MFR value of at least 15 g/10 min, and 2) 2) 20-45 wt % of a copolymer of ethylene with one or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) containing from 10 to 4 wt % of said C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s). The said compositions have values of MFR equal to or higher than 15 g/10 min, a total content of ethylene of 20% or more, a total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 4.5% or more, a ratio of the total content of ethylene to the total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 2.3 or more, and an intrinsic viscosity value of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of 1.7 dl/g or less.

Impact-resistant polyolefin compositions

A polyolefin composition suitable for preparing films and sheets, comprising: (A) from 15 to 40% by weight of a crystalline copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where Ris H or a Clinear or branched alkyl, containing at least 90% by weight of propylene, having solubility in xylene at room temperature lower than 15% by weight; (B) from 60 to 85% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a copolymer of propylene with ethylene, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, containing from 20 to 35% by weight ethylene, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 45% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 1.0 to 3.9 dl/g; and (2) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula HC&#x2550;CHR, where Ris a Clinear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, containing 15% to 40% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 35% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging, from 1.0 to 3.0 dl/g; the (1)/(2) weight ratio ranging from 1:5 to 5:1. The polyolefin composition of the invention, preferably prepared by sequential polymerization in at least three stages, has a flexural modulus lower than 130 Mpa, shore D hardness lower than 40, and MFR &#x2267;1.5 g/10 min.

Polyolefin compositions having high fluidity

Polyolefin compositions comprising (percent by weight): 1) 55-90% of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or copolymer containing up to 15% of ethylene and/or C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) and having values of MFR equal to or higher than 25 g/10 min; 2) 10-45% of a copolymer of ethylene with one or more C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) containing from 10 to 40% of said C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s); said compositions having values of MFR equal to or higher than 20 g/10 min, a total content of ethylene of 20% or more, a total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 4.5% or more, a ratio of the total content of ethylene to the total content of C-C&#x3b1;-olefin(s) of 2.3 or more, a total fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of less than 18 wt % and an intrinsic viscosity value of the fraction soluble in xylene at room temperature of 1.7 dl/g or less.

A polyolefin composition suitable for preparing films and sheets, comprising: The polyolefin composition of the invention, preferably prepared by sequential polymerization in at least three stages, has a flexural modulus lower than 130 MPa, Shore D hardness lower than 40, and MFR&#x2267;1.5 g/10 min.

Soft polyolefin compositions with improved flow

A bottle closure made from an olefin polymer composition (A) which includes: 1) 90-100% by weight of a crystalline propylene homopolymer or propylene/C -C alpha-olefin random copolymer, those polymers containing at least 94% by weight of a fraction insoluble in xylene at room temperature; and 2) 0-10% by weight of an ethylene/C -C alpha-olefin elastomeric copolymer, provided that when the amount of polymer (2) is 0% by weight, polymer (1) is one of the above random copolymers. Said composition (A) has a flexural elastic modulus value at 23&deg; C. of at least 1620 MPa, a strength at yield at 23&deg; C. of at least 33 MPa, and an IZOD impact resistance at 0&deg; C. of at least 2.5 kJ/m .
