A device for conveying thin workpieces for machines used in the printing technology field having at least one movable conveying element having an electrically insulating contact surface supporting at least one workpiece as it is being conveyed, the contact surface of the conveying element being formed with regions of varying charge density by electric charges applied thereto, and the workpiece being held on the contact surface by electrostatic forces, includes a multiplicity of contacts engaging the surface of the conveying element, the multiplicity of contacts including at least one given group thereof, the multiplicity of contacts being disposed transversely to a direction in which the thin workpiece is conveyable by the conveying element and being distributed across the entire width of the workpiece, the multiplicity of contacts being connected to at least one d.c. voltage source.

Sheet-conveying device for machines used in the printing technology field

A method for regulating inking of a printing press. The method includes a first step of providing a picture taking device, a closed-loop control device, and a printed product having a surface with a printed image. A second step of printing a print control strip on the surface next to the printed image. A third step of deriving first picture signals from the print control strip and deriving second picture signals from the printed image with the picture taking device. A fourth step of using the closed-loop control device for deriving actual values representing inking of the print control strip from the first picture signals and comparing the actual values to desired values for deriving resultant comparison values. A fifth step of determining ink adjusting signals for controlling ink distribution devices from the resultant comparison values for varying inking of the print product until a desired value is reached during a printer tuning phase. A sixth step of generating an OK signal when the desired value is reached. A seventh step of using the closed-loop control device for deriving further actual values representing inking of the printed image from the second picture signals and comparing the further actual values to further desired values for creating further resultant comparison values. Lastly, one determines further ink adjusting signals for controlling the ink distribution devices from the further resultant comparison values for varying inking of the printed product.

A device and a method for developing an electrostatic latent image, which is located on a movable image carrier (1), using a non-conductive single-component toner. The device includes a toner feed device (3), in order to transport toner particles (5) from a toner reservoir (4) and charge them electrically, a rotationally mounted developing roller (2) to receive the charged toner particles from the toner feed device and to transport the toner particles which it holds into a gap between the developing roller and the image carrier, and a rotationally mounted doctor roller (6), which is arranged in the path of the toner particles from the toner feed device to the developing roller, to produce a uniform toner layer with a defined thickness on the developing roller. The surface of the developing roller (2) and the surface of the doctor roller (6) are separated from one another by a gap which is wider than the average diameter of the toner particles (5). In this manner, electrographic printing with high quality and at high speed is made possible.

Sheets of defined format lengths are printed in a sheet-fed rotary printing press with a plurality of printing units. Each of the printing units includes an impression cylinder and a counter-pressure cylinder. The impression cylinders have a circumference which is no longer, and preferably shorter, than a shortest format length of the sheet.
