A machine tool has a spindle which has a tool receptacle for an interchangeable tool holder. The tool holder is chucked into the tool receptacle during operation of the machine tool. A first passage having an outlet opening is arranged in the interior of the spindle. The outlet opening opens out inside the tool receptacle. The tool holder has a coolant tube which engages in the outlet opening of the first passage. According to the invention, the first passage comprises a continuous inner tube, the first end of which is connected to a connection for a coolant source and the second end of which is designed for connection to the coolant tube.

A machine tool has a vertical-axis tool spindle that receives a tool, and a workpiece table on whose upper side is arranged a fixture for clamping in a workpiece. The tool spindle and workpiece table are displaceable relative to one another in a working region in which the workpiece is arranged. The working region extends at least partially, in a direction transverse to the spindle axis, outside the workpiece table; the fixture projects in that direction beyond the table, holds the workpiece there, and is open at the bottom so that chips that are produced can freely fall downward in the direction of the spindle axis.

A machine tool comprises a spindle which has a tool receptacle for tool holders. Also provided are a tool changing apparatus for transferring the tool holders between their respective magazine position and a working position in the tool receptacle, and an internal cooling system which delivers coolant from a coolant supply system, through an internal duct running longitudinally through the spindle, to a tool holder clamped into the tool receptacle, in order to flush out a tool that is in use. Also provided is a flushing apparatus in order to flush the tool holder while it is being inserted into the tool receptacle, the flushing apparatus flushing with coolant from the coolant supply system.

A machine tool comprises a working space in which a receptacle for workpieces to be machined, which are exchanged after completion of a machining process, is provided. A method is described for controlling a machine tool that has a spindle which rotates at a variable rotation speed n about a spindle axis. The spindle carries a facing head that is fitted with a tool whose radial distance V from the spindle axis is adjustable by means of a control system. The distance V and/or the rotation speed n are modified as a function of a machining operation to be performed with the tool. In order to attain a desired distance V.sub.actual, the control system specifies a reference value V.sub.ref that is smaller than the desired distance V.sub.actual by a certain correction value .DELTA.V, the correction value .DELTA.V being calculated as a function of the desired distance V.sub.actual and the rotation speed n.

Method for controlling a machine tool

A method is disclosed for operating a machine tool which comprises a spindle rotatable about a spindle axis; a spindle gripper, carried by the spindle, for gripping workpieces; and a cradle apparatus that can be pivoted back and forth about a pivot axis of the cradle apparatus extending approximately perpendicular to the spindle axis. In the method, the cradle apparatus with a clamped workpiece is set up in a first position, whereupon the clamped workpiece is removed from the cradle apparatus and held with the spindle gripper. The empty cradle apparatus is then pivoted into a second position, and/or the spindle gripper holding the workpiece is pivoted about the spindle axis. Lastly, the workpiece held by the spindle gripper is inserted back into the cradle apparatus, and the latter is pivoted into a further position for further machining of the workpiece that is once again clamped in.

A machine tool comprises a turntable that has a table plate, pivotable about a rotation axis with respect to a machine frame, onto the upper side of which lead lines, coming from beneath the table plate, that are connected to stationary supply connections. The lines are attached to the table plate from below, by means of downward-pointing connector pieces that are joined nonrotatably to the table plate in its center region, in such a way that they hang freely downward.

A workpiece gripper has a housing part on which is arranged a gripper element actuated by external force for gripping workpieces. Also provided is a joining part, for attaching the workpiece gripper to a tool holder, that can be transferred by means of a tool changing device between a magazine position on a machine tool and a working position on a receptacle in a spindle. Provided on the housing part is a connecting element that, when a tool holder is present in the receptacle, is in engagement with a joining element, to deliver energy for actuation of the gripper element, in such a way that the housing part is held nonrotatably with respect to the spindle head. An adapter is provided which is rotatably mounted on the housing part and to which the gripper element can be attached.

The machine tool includes a spindle rotor, a tool receptacle and a clamp for clamping a tool in the tool receptacle. The clamp is moveable in the direction of the spindle axis by a spindle drive which is actuated by rotation of the spindle rotor. A spreading member is provided in the tool receptacle for positive gripping and clamping of the tool. The spindle drive preferably includes an externally threaded section on the spreading member and an internally threaded section on the tool receptacle, the latter being non-rotatably joined with the spindle rotor.

A machine tool comprises at least one spindle (13). Tool changers (27) for exchanging tools (31) are associated with said spindle (13). The spindle (13) is fitted with a facing head (60). The facing head (60) comprises means for numerically controlled displacement of a facing tool (69) in a direction (r) perpendicular to the axis (23) of the spindle (13).
