In the rapier or gripper weaving machine a rapier or gripper rod is moved to-and-fro by a drive gear or wheel. An oil lubricating device is provided whose spray nozzle opens in the vicinity of the drive gear or wheel. This spray nozzle is connected to a pressure conduit located at the exit or outlet side of a mixing chamber. In the mixing chamber, a predeterminable quantity of oil taken from an oil reservoir can be admixed with a continuously transmitted flow of compressed air. A timer serves for the periodic activation of an oil dosing and injecting device located upstream or forwardly of the mixing chamber. The dosing action controlled by the timer periodically mixes a predetermined volume of oil into the continuous flow of compressed air being supplied to the spray nozzle. The spray nozzle is a molecular atomizing nozzle. These measures enable an absolutely accurate, constant and adjustable quantity of oil to be admixed with the flow of compressed air and further provide a practically droplet-free mist of oil at the drive gear or wheel of the rapier or gripper rod.

Rapier or gripper weaving machine

A selvedge cutting device for a weaving machine or loom serves to cut the selvedge from the fundamental weave or foundation fabric prior to winding-up the same and contains a scissor structure composed of two mutually contacting scissor blades. The one scissor blade is arranged at a mounting structure, such as a stationary ball pin or bowl gudgeon for carrying out swinging or pendulum movements and in relation to which mounting structure the other scissor blade is displaceable in its lengthwise extent. Both of the scissor blades form, at the region of their cutting edges, guide surfaces for the self-guiding of the scissor structure in a cutting lane or alley at the fabric. At the displaceable scissor blade there engages a drive which imparts to such scissor blade an up-and-down movement and does not hinder the pendulum or swinging movements of the scissor structure. In this manner there is provided a simple, functionally reliable selvedge cutting device possessing a high cutting capacity or output.

Selvedge cutting device for a weaving machine

The two-phase gripper loom or weaving machine comprises two loom units arranged adjacent one another. Each of their heald frames can be actuated by a heald frame positioning device with a phase shift of 180 angular degrees. Each heald frame positioning device is associated with a related one of the loom units. There is arranged between the common main shaft of the machine and the two rotary shafts of the two heald frame positioning devices a clutch drive for selectively individually connecting or coupling one or the other rotary shaft with the main shaft of the machine or with an auxiliary drive. This enables, during standstill of the machine, to bring the open weaving shed of one or the other loom unit into a closed shed position until the gripper loom is restarted, prior to which restarting the closed weaving shed is brought back again into the open shed position.

Method for operating a two-phase gripper loom and two-phase gripper loom

A weft thread-storage apparatus for a loom, especially a gripper loom, comprises a storage for the temporary loop-shaped storage of a filling or weft thread to be inserted into the weaving shed. The substantially box-shaped storage is provided at its one end face or side with an opening of substantially slot-shaped configuration. This opening extends over practically the entire width of the storage. Internally of the storage, in the neighborhood of the slot-shaped opening, there is arranged at least one loop divider in the form of a motor-driven roll. The rotational axis of such roll extends perpendicular to the floor or base surface of the storage and its direction of rotation corresponds to the infeed direction of the weft thread. By regulating the peripheral speed at the roll it is possible to store loops of different length.

Weft thread-storage apparatus for a loom, especially a gripper loom

A transfer device comprises a transfer lever arranged to execute an oscillatory movement and carries a thread clamp at its free end. This thread clamp comprises a leaf spring constituting a movable, controllable clamping element. The leaf spring can be raised by an actuating lever pivotally mounted on the transfer lever and which is movable relative thereto. At least one thread pick-up or entrainment element and preferably two thread pick-ups or entrainment elements, are arranged on the batten of the loom to position the weft or filling thread in the thread clamp in a predetermined position. This arrangement constitutes a relatively very simple, operationally reliable and self-cleaning transfer device.

Device for transferring a weft thread in a shuttleless loom

A device for holding the weft yarn outside of a pair of takeoff rolls after there has been a filling break or upon starting up of the loom. The takeoff rolls in normal operation withdraw a measured length of yarn from a supply package and feed the yarn to a storage device such as a suction tube. The rapier on its filling stroke withdraws the measured length of yarn from the storage tube on each stroke of filling insertion. As the rapier approaches the end of the stroke, the takeoff rolls 4 and 5 separate so that the final portion of the yarn of each filling is taken directly from the supply package. After a filling break or upon starting up of the loom, in order to insure that the length of the first weft yarn is proper, a movable guide arm 14 holds the yarn outside of the takeoff rolls 4 and 5 and the yarn is manually withdrawn from the supply package. At the end of the first stroke of the rapier the rolls 4 and 5 are separated. At this time the pivotal arm automatically brings the yarn between the takeoff rolls and then the takeoff rolls assume their normal operation of feeding a measured length of yarn to the storage device on each subsequent stroke of the rapier.

Switching on device on an apparatus for intermittently taking off weft

A thread gripper for a textile thread having a fork-like gripping member with two rigid horns 3, 7, of which the one horn 7 forms a rigid part of the thread gripper. A cushion 5 of soft resilient material is inserted in a recess 4 in the other horn 3. This cushion 5 presses a tongue 6, in order to grip the thread 11. The thread 11 is released by pressure on the nose 9 carried on top of the tongue.

Thread gripper

A device for equalizing the warp yarn tension in a loom having a movable back rest and a fixed beam spaced therefrom. The back rest is moved to and fro the beam during the weaving operations with the warp yarns extending thereover. A pressure cushion is carried between the back rest and the beam parallel to the back rest and the beam. The pressure cushion is compressed and relaxed as the back rest moves to and fro said beam during the weaving operation for equalizing the warp yarn tension.
