Two embodiments of a molded plastic container/closure combination are described. Each can be structured to provide a child resistant opening feature and, optionally, a tamper-evident feature. In both embodiments, the closure has radially extending bayonets arranged around an outer skirt, which bayonets can be rotated into a position underlying semi-annular ribs in a beam molded integrally with the sidewall of the container. Rotation of the closure in the unlocking direction is opposed by a structure which requires depression of a release tab downwardly. In one embodiment, depression of the release tab requires that a frangible element first be fractured and removed from the container sidewall. In the second embodiment, depressing the release tab is made possible by a living hinge formed on one side of the release tab.

Child resistant, tamper evident container

A tamper evident, pull-out flexible spout for use in combination with a container lid wherein a cap can only be removed from the threaded end of the spout by lifting a pair of bail rings which are attached to the cap by way of a set of frangible connectors and thereafter pulling the spout out from the stored position at least part way toward the use position thereby to disengage lugs on an exterior surface of the cap from a pair of one-way stops on an interior surface of the spout ring.

Tamper evident pull-out spout

An all plastic paint container assembly comprising a container, a ring assembly attached to the rim of the container and a pry-off plastic closure having a dual sealing arrangement with the ring member and an undercut lock at a location which provides maximum circumferential area. Containers of this design can be stacked both with and without the ring members attached. Three embodiments are disclosed, providing double and triple closure locks and multiple seals.

Plastic pry off paint can assembly

A cylindrical molded plastic container is adapted to receive a snap-on snap-ring which acts as a transition structure between the container sidewall and a suitably configured closure. The snap-ring does not require sonic or friction welding and thus reduces manufacturing costs in the production of the container. The container may be used to ship and store paint or other ingredients.

A molded plastic container/closure combination providing a tamper evident feature, a child resistant feature and a removal facilitation feature. The closure has radially extending bayonets extending from the outer skirt which fit into horizontal slots in a beam molded integrally with the sidewall of the container. Rotation of the closure in one direction brings the bayonets into the slots for locking purposes. Rotation in the opposite direction unlocks the closure and continued rotation lifts the closure relative to the container to facilitate removal. A resiliently mounted release tab must be depressed before unlocking rotation is permitted. A latch prevents depression of the release tab until anchors on the sides of the latch are fractured. Serrations acting between the tab and the bayonets provide an audible indication of rotation.

Tamper evident, child resistant container

A molded plastic pail and a snap-on closure having a flared skirt the bottom of which is manually engaged for removal purposes. A peripheral ring structure integral with the pail sidewall immediately underlies the skirt of the closure when in the sealing relationship with the pail thereby to block access to the skirt. However, a section of the rib structure essentially midway between the bail ears includes a break away panel connected to the rib structure by frangible webs and a living hinge so that it may be pivoted outwardly and downwardly away from the pail wall to afford access to a sufficient portion of the closure skirt to permit removal. The break away section thereafter serves as an integral handle to facilitate pouring from the container.

Tamper evident pail and closure

A removable plug for use in combination with a planar closure having an aperture formed therein. The plug body is of shallow cylindrical configuration and has a top flange which is partially subdivided into inner and outer ring portions by a combination of weak frangible links and strong non-frangible links. A tab integral with the outer ring portion overlies a ledge ring on the closure body to facilitate initialization of the removal process. Location of the pull ring around the maximum diameter of the top flange maximizes leverage and provides a large ring capable of accommodating several fingers of one's hand.

Plug closure with integral pull ring

A molded plastic lid of the drink-through type for use in connection with a conventional beverage cup. The lid exhibits a cup engaging rim and, radially inwardly thereof, a raised crown portion having a side wall and a top. The top is generally flat but has formed therein a centrally located recess, the floor of which extends laterally to the side walls and which is at all times above the maximum fill line of the cup during normal operation. The recess exhibits a structure which may be depressed into a stable inverted condition which provides an enlarged drink-through aperture immediately adjacent the side wall.

Drink-through lid for disposable cup

A molded plastic lid of the drink-through type for use in connection with a conventional beverage cup. The lid exhibits a cup-engaging rim and, radially inwardly thereof, a raised crown portion having a side wall and a top. The top is generally flat but has formed therein a centrally located recess, the floor of which extends laterally to the side walls and which is at all times above the maximum fill line of the cup during normal operation. The recess exhibits a structure which may be depressed into a stable inverted condition which provides an enlarged drink-through aperture immediately adjacent the side wall.
