A lampis described comprising a burnerfixed to a lamp base. An operating circuitis arranged within the lamp basefor supplying electrical power to the burner. The operating circuitis electrically connected to at least one elongate contact path elementextending within the base. The contact path elementis supported within the baseand comprises a first portionfixed within the base and a second portionslidably received within the base. The contact path elementis fixed to the operating circuitat a position arranged in longitudinal direction from the second portion. This allows a manufacturing method, where the contact path element is fixed to the operating circuitat a position arranged in longitudinal direction from the second portion, so that a longitudinal movement of the second portion is possible to compensate for manufacturing tolerances.

Discharge lamp with contact paths within the base

A lamp () is described comprising a burner () fixed to a lamp base (). The lamp base () includes a top wall oriented towards the burner (). Within the top wall, an opening () is provided. The lamp base () further comprises an insulation chamber () where an electrical component, e. g. a transformer (), is embedded within an insulation compound (). In order to prevent possibly spilled insulation compound from leaking through the opening (), a raised retention wall () is provided around the opening.

The metal housing part () comprises a contact sheet element () made out of a different metal material. Electrical contacts are provided within the base (), including an electrical ground contact (). A contact spring () is provided for contacting the electrical ground contact () to the metal housing part (). The contact spring () is arranged to press against the contact sheet element () to provide electrical ground connection to the metal housing part ().

A driving module for a gas discharge lamp, in particular for headlights in vehicles, comprises a suitable lamp socket, a carrier for electrical components, and an ignition transformer, wherein the component part carrier is populated at least with electrical components of an ignition unit and moreover is designed for accommodating further electrical components that are required for a self-sustaining operation of the driving module. In addition, the lamp socket is made of a high temperature resistant plastic material and has an integrated high-voltage conducting track.

Activation module for a gas discharge lamp

A description is given of a gas-discharge lamp base () with a housing comprising an upper part () and a cover (), a support () accommodated in the housing for receiving the components, with a transformer, with inductances connected in series with the lamp () and a capacitance connected in parallel with the lamp (), the transformer comprising a bar transformer (). This construction permits particularly efficient production, because the support can be constructed as a simple leadframe which permits automatic component fitting.
