Efficient data structures are generated to enforce permissions on a multi-dimensional representation in a performance management application. A model site is generated having at least one model with at least one dimension. User permissions and group permissions are set for the model. The user permission and the group permissions are deployed to a relational database. A collective user permission table is generated based on the user permissions and the group permissions. Thus, an end user may receive permissions associated with a model and permissions associated with particular dimensions of a model without an inefficient consumption of resources.

Efficient data structures for multi-dimensional security

Relationships between linked and/or embedded documents as well as documents sharing data source(s) are captured and rendered through virtual documents. Virtual documents are created representing linked/embedded documents and data sources associated with a relevant document. Relationships between real and virtual documents are preserved and rendered along with search results providing a user a comprehensive picture of search results.

Architecture for cell-based security on a per-user basis. A security model for this capability includes not only dimension level tables, but is extended to include cell level tables. The security model can include existing dimension tables, plus cell security tables that include a cell permissions table, a cell qualifiers table and a table that includes both the cell permissions table, a cell qualifiers. Metadata associated with the security applied to the cells for a given user can be stored locally in a local metadata store for retrieval and application against a data cube that an authenticated and authorized user is querying. In a specific implementation, the cell level security is employed in a performance management server application, where authentication is performed remotely by an authentication service, but the authorization function is performed local to the performance management server application.
