A method of fabricating a gas turbine casing out of composite material of varying thickness, the method including making a strip-shaped fiber texture by three-dimensional weaving; winding the fiber texture as a plurality of superposed layers onto a mandrel of profile corresponding to the profile of the casing that is to be fabricated, so as to obtain a fiber preform of shape corresponding to the shape of the casing that is to be fabricated; and densifying the fiber preform with a matrix; wherein, before beginning to wind the fiber texture onto the mandrel, a reinforcing band of width smaller than the width of the fiber texture is placed on the mandrel in a zone that is to form a retention zone of the casing.

A method of fabricating a composite material casing of varying thickness for a gas turbine includes using three-dimensional or multilayer weaving to make a fiber texture in the form of a strip; winding the fiber texture as a plurality of superposed layers onto a mandrel of profile corresponding to the profile of the casing to be fabricated, so as to obtain a fiber preform of shape corresponding to the shape of the casing to be fabricated; and densifying the fiber preform with a matrix. During winding of the fiber texture on the mandrel, a textile strip is interposed between the adjacent turns of the fiber texture, the textile strip presenting a width that is less than the width of the fiber texture and defining a retention zone of the casing.

Lighter-weight casing made of composite material and method of manufacturing same

A method of placing a fastener plate on a structure made of composite material, the structure being obtained by a technique of injecting resin under a vacuum, the technique including placing a fiber preform in a closed mold, injecting a thermosetting resin into the mold, and polymerizing the resin prior to cooling. The method includes mounting a metal fastener plate against a wall of the mold before putting the fiber preform into place, the fastener plate coming into contact with one of faces of the fiber preform while the fiber preform is being put into place in the mold, and the resin becoming deposited between the fastener plate and the fiber preform while the resin is being injected into the mold. The method may be used in particular for fastening equipment on a composite material fan casing of a gas turbine for an aeroengine.
