Assembly and connection of electronic components are provided. In one embodiment, electronic components such as a CPU planar, power supplies, and other electronic components or subassemblies are positioned within an enclosure. An interface board removably positionable in the enclosure carries a plurality of electronic connectors, providing an electronic interface between the CPU planar, power supplies, and other electronic subassemblies. The interface board is movably mounted to a component module on a track. The component module is inserted in a first bay, with the attached interface board in a first position. The interface board connects to a movable cable plate, and is subsequently moved to a second position along with the connected cable plate to move one or more of the connectors to a second bay. An electronic subassembly positioned in the second bay or another bay may then be connected the interface board. Other electronic components may be connected to the interface board via the cable plate. The interface board may be locked in a variety of ways in the second position to prevent damage to connected electronic components.

Electronic component interconnection and assembly

A computer drive module including at least one computer drive; a module housing; and a backplane printed circuit board. The module housing includes a first section adapted to be connected to a computer housing and a second section movably connected to the first section between a retracted position and an extended position. The second section is adapted to pivot relative to the first section when the second section is at the extended position. The backplane printed circuit board is connected to a rear end of the second section of the module housing.

Computer module connection

The enclosure includes a base section fabricated from a single piece of material, such as sheet metal, in which multiple design details are punched and formed. A cover section with tabs for inserting in slots formed in the base section is provided. A one-piece card cage including injector/ejector latching details and card guide rails is connected via welding or other means to the base section. An enabler assembly, including guide rails, is fastened to the card cage and configures the card cage into multiple adapter receiving cavities.

Computer system and enclosure thereof

An electrical machine, such as a computer, network interconnecting device, etc., has an enclosure fabricated from a one piece material fold and cut into a desired form including sidewalls with an opening in one of the sidewalls and projections to which other components are connected. The components include a support member and brackets interconnecting the support member to the projections. The support and brackets are arranged to form cavities in which circuit cards can be inserted.

Low profile computer or communications network interconnecting device and housing therefor

A universal adapter bracket for installing standard form factor adapter cards such as PCI cards into larger expansion slots of a communications device, such as a router or switch. The adapter bracket has a front face with angled flanges forming an aperture for accepting standard PC brackets, an upper flange with conductive spring clips or foam gasket material, a lower flange for securing a carrier card to the adapter bracket, and fasteners on the front face of the adapter bracket for securing and grounding the adapter bracket to the communications device.

Universal adapter bracket for communications devices

A touch sensing direct input data display device is described. The data display screen is directly and solely supported within a housing by stiff springs having essentially uniaxial freedom of motion. Strain gauge sensors are applied directly to the springs and are connected in a full Wheatstone bridge sensing circuit. The outputs of the sensors are fed to a calculating and processing device for calculaating the X, Y and Z coordinate information relative to the point on the face of the display which has been pushed or touched. The Z component is of total force and the X any Y components give the two dimensional location for the application of the force measured in the Z axis. The stiff springs allow very little deflection to occur under normal touch imposed fores on the display screen. They permit essentially uniaxial motion only in the Z axis. The system is mechanically robust and may be shipped and subjected to dropping or impact loads normally encountered in shipping without damage, has a relatively high natural frequency of vibration and produces high level, relatively continuous output signals for use.

Touch sensing display screen apparatus

A touch sensing display apparatus having improved electrical signal processing is described. A plurality of signal threshold comparison levels are employed by the electronic signal calculating and processing unit to identify actual touch signals and to exclude extraneous vibration and offset signal components. Static thresholds of comparison are utilized at lower signal levels and a dynamic, signal tracking threshold is utilized at higher signal levels. The apparatus is particularly effective for use in designs employing a suspended CRT display or other display device in which the screen of the display device is directly touched by a user to record selections of information presented or to input graphical or handwritten information.

Touch sensing display screen signal processing apparatus and method

A piezoelectric touch screen assembly can be attached to mounting ears on an ordinary CRT assembly. The touch screen assembly includes a frame, a glass plate which is seated on a gasket at one surface of the frame and a plurality of piezoelectric elements which are bonded to the glass plate and are 'trapped' between the CRT face and the glass plate. Studs extend outwardly from the CRT ears through openings in the frame. Coil springs are placed on the studs and are trapped by washer nuts to load the touch screen assembly toward the CRT by a predetermined amount. Grommets with a unique cross sectional configuration are mounted at the openings through the frame. The grommet is designed to provide minimal resistance to movement of the touch screen assembly toward or away from the CRT face but greater resistance to movement of the assembly in other directions.
