A thermal desorption tube for chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis. The thermal desorption tube includes a sorbent and a plurality of focusing agents loaded at known, relative amounts onto the sorbent. Each focusing agent is a compound that chromatographically elutes within a retention time similar to a retention time of a target analyte and has a mass spectrum similar to a mass spectrum of the target analyte. The thermal desorption tube is configured to be further loaded with a sample having the target analyte.

Focusing agents and calibration transportability

Systems and methods for continuous real-time sweat sampling and analysis are disclosed. A sweat collection article and method of collecting sweat from a person's skin using the sweat collection article are provided. The sweat collection article includes: a sweat collecting tube placed adjacent to the person's skin, and at least one piece of flexible material that has an adhesive that adheres the article to the person's skin and is positioned to overlie one end of the tube. The second end of the sweat collecting tube is in fluid communication with an instrument such as a mass spectrometer that analyzes the sweat on a real-time basis. The systems and methods may further include a device for removing salt from the sweat that is arranged so that the sweat is transported to the device prior to being transported to the instrument for analyzing the sweat.

Systems and methods for real-time sweat sampling and analysis

Systems and methods for continuous real-time sweat sampling and analysis are disclosed. In one case, a sweat collection device and method of using the same are provided. The sweat collecting device has a main body with a sweat-collecting surface that is placed adjacent the person's skin. A sweat collecting tube is provided. The first end of the sweat collecting tube is joined to a bore in the main body of the device and the second end extends outward therefrom. In another case, a sweat collection article and method of collecting sweat from a person's skin using the sweat collection article are provided. The sweat collection article includes: a sweat collecting tube placed adjacent to the person's skin, and at least one piece of flexible material that has an adhesive that adheres the article to the person's skin and is positioned to overlie one end of the tube. A biomarker diagnostic system includes a sensor to collect a sweat sample from a biological subject; a processor operatively connected to the sensor, wherein the processor is configured to perform metabolic and proteomic profiling of biomarkers in the sweat sample. The metabolic and proteomic profile is compared to a predetermined profile of the biomarkers and to determine a physiological status of the biomarkers. The system further includes a feedback unit operatively coupled to the sensor and the processor and configured to output physiological performance data based on the physiological status.

The aforementioned method employs a calibration correction module that calibrates the mass spectrometer so timely, more precise and accurate data can be obtained. A self-timing, passive, chemical dosimeter. The dosimeter includes a sampling media and electronics supported by a cassette. The sampling media is configured to absorb volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both, while the electronics are configured to record a time of exposure. The dosimeter further includes an actuator having a closed position and an open position. In the closed position, the actuator resists exposure of the sampling media to volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both, and in the open position, the actuator permits exposure of the sampling media to volatile organic compounds, semivolatile organic compounds, or both. The actuator is configured to operate the electronics for recording time of exposure.
