Systems and apparatuses include a generator set including a chassis, an engine mounted to the chassis, an inverter coupled to the engine, and a housing coupled to the chassis. The engine and inverter are contained within the chassis and the housing. An air cleaner is sized to fit within the housing and includes an air cleaner housing defining an inlet and an outlet, and a sealing surface positioned between the inlet and the outlet, and a cover pivotably coupled to the air cleaner housing and including a carrier sized to be received within the air cleaner housing. The cover includes an air filter receiving feature structured to support an air filter and position the air filter between the inlet and the outlet, and a carrier flange structured to seal a portion of the air filter between the sealing surface and the carrier flange when the cover is arranged in a closed position.

An apparatus is disclosed including a fan producing an outlet fluid flow, and an inlet receiving an inlet stream and operably coupled to the fan. The apparatus further includes a divider separating the outlet flow into a first outlet stream and a second outlet stream, a first flow path directing the first outlet stream to a first heat transfer device thermally coupled to a first heat generating device, and a second flow path directing the second outlet stream to a second heat transfer device thermally coupled to a second heat generating device. In certain embodiments, the first and second heat transfer devices are a radiator and a surface of a generator, and the first and second heat generation devices are an internal combustion engine and the generator.

A system is disclosed including a primary engine that provides vehicle propulsion and a secondary engine that drives a generator to provide auxiliary power. The system further includes a first exhaust gas passageway from the primary engine and a second exhaust gas passageway from the secondary engine. The system further includes an emission treatment device including an exhaust inlet to treat exhaust from the primary and secondary engines. The system further includes an exhaust routing device that selectively routes exhaust from the first passageway or the second passageway to the exhaust inlet. The exhaust routing device at least partially blocks the first passageway or the second passageway from fluid communication with the exhaust inlet.

System and method for auxilary power unit emissions management

A system for regulating fuel flow in a fuel line from a supply of fuel to an engine, comprising: a fuel regulator disposed in the fuel line intermediate of the engine and the fuel supply regulating the flow of fuel to the engine; vacuum lockoff apparatus, disposed in the fuel line intermediate of the fuel regulator and the fuel supply and connected to the engine by an air passageway, sensing a partial vacuum condition at the engine, the vacuum lockoff means allowing flow of fuel in the fuel line when a partial vacuum condition is sensed and prohibiting flow of fuel in the fuel line when the partial vacuum condition is no longer sensed; one way check valve, disposed intermediate of the engine and the vacuum lockoff means in the air passageway, maintaining partial vacuum condition at the vacuum lockoff means; and bypass valve means, connected to the air passageway so as to provide an air passageway bypassing the one way check valve, for allowing restricted flow of air to the vacuum lockoff apparatus whereby the partial vacuum condition at the vacuum lockoff apparatus is nullified in a predetermined period of time so that fuel flow is prohibited once the engine has been stopped for the predetermined period of time.

An engine generator set apparatus including an internal combustion engine including a drive shaft driving an electrical generator, the engine and the generator being disposed along a longitudinal axis. A housing substantially enclosing the engine and generator, the housing including air inlets and air outlets. A fan drawing outside ambient air through the air inlets in the housing and along an inlet air pathway, the generator being axially disposed intermediate of the fan and the engine.

A method for assembling and preloading shaft assemblies that are supported by bearings in reciprocating internal combustion engines and the resulting improved shaft assembly. The method is comprised of the steps of: placing a spring element (21) on one end of the shaft (10) wherein said spring element (21) is arranged and configured to fill any gap between the shaft (10) and the bearings (14, 15) that could arise from the accumulation of design tolerances in the shaft assembly components and arranged and configured to always exert a positive load on the shaft (10) to reduce the axial movement of the shaft (10); and securing the shaft (10) between the bearings (14, 15).

Method for assembling and preloading shaft assemblies in reciprocating

An apparatus for use as a governor arm/governor shaft joint in a governor system (10) and a method for zeroing out the tolerances in a governor system (10) used in reciprocating internal combustion engines. The apparatus is comprised of a governor shaft (12) with first and second ends having a tapered portion (21) located near said first end; a governor arm (13) with first and second ends having a tapered aperture (29) generally located near said first end that is arranged and configured to match the tapered portion (21) of the governor shaft (12); and a securing element (31) that forces the tapered portion (21) into engagement with the tapered aperture (29). The tolerances in the governor system (10) are zeroed by rotating the governor shaft (12) to its maximum position; loosely placing the tapered aperture (29) of the governor arm (13) on the governor shaft (12), attaching a linkage (14) between the governor arm first aperture (24) and the carburetor valve ( 15), attaching a governor spring (16) between a control plate (17) and a second governor arm aperture (26) whereby said governor spring (16) is arranged and configured to rotate the governor arm (13) until the carburetor valve (15) is in its maximum open position, and applying a securing element (31) that forces the tapered portion (21) into engagement with the tapered aperture (29).
