Various syringe systems are disclosed. One illustrative syringe system may include a syringe body having a hollow lumen and a distal end. The syringe body may be configured to house a plurality of fluids therein. A first plunger may be positioned in the hollow lumen of the syringe body, forming a first seal with an inner wall of the syringe body, and forming a first compartment between the first plunger and the distal end of the syringe. A second plunger may be positioned proximal to the first plunger in the hollow lumen of the syringe body, forming a second seal with the inner wall of the syringe body, and forming a second compartment between the first plunger and the second plunger. A plurality of recesses may be disposed about the inner wall of the syringe body near the distal end of the syringe body.

Multiple compartment syringe

A fluid delivery system which includes a pressurizing device for delivering injection fluid under pressure, a low pressure fluid delivery system, and a pressure isolation mechanism. The pressure isolation mechanism includes a valve housing having a first port associated with the pressurizing device, a second port associated with the low pressure fluid delivery system, an outlet port associated with a patient, and a pressure isolation port for connection with a pressure transducer. A first valve in a normally open position permits fluid communication between the first port and the second port and is movable to a closed position when fluid pressure in the first port increases to a predetermined pressure level. The first valve isolates the pressure isolation port from the first port when in the closed position. A second valve is associated with the second port and regulates fluid flow through the second port.

Fluid delivery system, fluid path set, and pressure isolation mechanism with hemodynamic pressure dampening correction

The fluid path set is intended for use in a fluid delivery system. The fluid path set includes a multi-patient use section adapted for connection to a syringe used in the fluid delivery system, and to a source of fluid, such as contrast media, to be loaded into the syringe. The fluid path set further includes a per-patient use section that is removably connected to the multi-patient use section. A connector removably connects the multi-patient use section and the per-patient use section. A drip chamber is provided between the source of fluid and the syringe, and includes a projection for determining a level of fluid in the drip chamber. The per-patient use section includes a pressure isolation mechanism. The pressure isolation mechanism includes a lumen, a pressure isolation port, and a valve member with a biasing portion that biases the valve member to a normally open position.

The plunger systems for use in an injector-actuated syringe of the present invention include a dynamic wedge seal which improves the sealing engagement between the plunger cover and syringe barrel, and flexible capture members extending from the rear surface of the plunger which permit the engagement and disengagement of the plunger from the injector drive means at any plunger position within the syringe. Further, the plunger systems include a contrast saving tip which expells the injection liquid from the syringe tip.

Plunger systems

An adapter includes a syringe carrier adapted to seat at least a portion of the syringe. The syringe carrier includes at least one rearward facing abutment member to abut at least one forward facing surface on a syringe. The syringe carrier includes an opening therein to allow a drive member of an injector to communicate forward force to the plunger through abutment without connective engagement between the drive member and the plunger. The adapter further includes a releasable mounting mechanism positioned to the rear of the syringe carrier to mount the adapter in a desired position relative to the front wall of the injector.

Injector systems and syringe adapters for use therewith

An adapter for releasably attaching a syringe to an injector includes a first section and a second section connected about a hinge axis that is generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the adapter. The first section and the second section are rotatable about the hinge axis between an open position to allow loading of the syringe into the adapter from a position to the rear of the hinge axis and a closed position to retain the syringe therein. The hinge axis is preferably off-center from the longitudinal axis of the adapter and the adapter further includes a releasable mounting mechanism positioned on a rearward end of the adapter to mount the adapter in a desired position relative to the front wall of the injector.

Syringe adapters for use with an injector

The present invention provides a connection mechanism adapted to make a releasable connection between a syringe plunger and a drive member of an injector. The drive member is preferably movable in a generally reciprocal linear manner to control movement of the plunger within the syringe. The connection mechanism comprises at least one capture member attached to the plunger. The capture member forms a releasable connection with the drive member upon contact of the drive member during linear forward motion of the drive member when the capture member is rotated relative to the drive member to an engagement position. The capture member is further adapted to disconnect from the drive member upon rotation of the capture member relative to the drive member to a disengagement position.
