An electrical plug assembly including a plug housing, a ground pin and a first power blade projecting from the surface of the plug housing; and a power socket disposed within the plug housing. The surface defines an aperture surrounding the power socket. The assembly further includes an adapter plate including a second power blade having a first portion projecting from a first surface and a second portion projecting from an opposed second surface. Ground pin and first power blade apertures extend through the adapter plate. The second portion of the second power blade is received within the power socket and the ground pin and the first power blade are received within the ground pin and first power blade apertures respectively. The ground pin and the first power blade each project from the first surface of the adapter plate. The adapter plate allows the plug assembly to meet NEMA 5-15P or 6-20P standards.

Adaptable electrical plug assembly

An electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) assembly for an electric vehicle (EV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), often referred to as, optionally having one of at least two interchangeable power supply cords with plugs that conform to different technical standards, such as National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 5-15P or 6-20P. The interchangeable power supply cord plugs each include a thermistor adapted to monitor plug temperatures. The electronic module is configured to disable charging until a proper resistance of the thermistor in the plug is detected. The electronic module is also configured to automatically switch between 120 volt and 240 volt operation based on which of the interchangeable power supply cords is connected to the electronic module.

Electric vehicle power supply equipment with interchangeable power supply cords conforming to different technical standards

A connector assembly, such as a high voltage electrical connector assembly, includes a first connector having a first housing and an intermediate housing attached to the first housing. The intermediate housing is moveable from a first position to a second position. A flexible retaining arm is configured to hold the intermediate housing in the first position. The connector assembly further includes a second connector having a second housing. The second housing defines a release wedge that engages and flexes the retaining arm, thereby releasing the intermediate housing from engagement with the retaining arm and allowing the intermediate housing to move from the first position to the second position as the first connector is connected to the second connector. A terminal in the first housing is enclosed within the intermediate housing in the first position, and protrudes from an aperture in a surface of the intermediate housing in the second position.

Right angle connector with terminal contact protection

An electronic assembly including a printed circuit board (PCB), a housing, and a shock absorbing device that is intermediate the printed circuit board and the housing. The shock absorbing device is formed of an insulative and compliant material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer material. The side walls of the shock absorbing device defines a groove surrounds and at least partially encloses the edges of the printed circuit board. The shock absorbing device defines an aperture through which a fastener is configured to pass to secure the shock absorbing device to the housing and thus securing the printed circuit board within the housing. The shock absorbing device is intermediate the fastener and the printed circuit board so that there is no direct contact between the fastener and the printed circuit board which could transmit impact shock directly from the housing to the printed circuit board.

A right angle connector assembly including a first connector having a mating assist slider configured to slide along a first axis defined by the first connector and a second connector having a second housing and an intermediate housing attached to the second housing that is configured to slide along a second axis defined by the second connector that is substantially perpendicular to the first axis. The intermediate housing is configured to receive the first connector along the first axis. When the mating assist slider is moved along the first axis from a starting position to and ending position, the mating assist slider moves intermediate housing along the second axis from an initial position to a final position, thereby mating a first terminal within the first connector to a second terminal within the second connector at a right angle or ninety degree orientation.

Right angle connection assembly

An electromagnetically shielded connector system includes a first and second connector. The first connector further includes a first terminal and a first electromagnetic shield surrounding the first terminal. The first shield defines a flexible interface contact projecting from an end of the first shield. The second connector further includes a second terminal configured to mate with the first terminal and a second electromagnetic shield surrounding the second terminal. The second shield is configured to be electrically connected with the first shield at least via the flexible interface contact. The second shield is surrounded by a supporting member. At least a portion of an outer surface of the second shield is in intimate contact with the supporting member. The second shield is configured to be disposed intermediate the interface contact and the supporting member. The interface contact is formed and configured to exert a normal spring force on the second shield.

Electromagnetically shielded connector system

A shielded, or coaxial, electrical cable assembly including a female shield connected to the outer conductor, or shield, of the cable. The female shield is configured to mate with a male shield to maintain the continuity of the shield in a connection. The male shield includes a flexible protrusion that is designed to align with and snap into an aperture defined in the female shield, thereby providing a mechanical connection between the male and female shields. The male shield also defines a flexible contact adapted to closely engage an interior surface of the female exterior shield, thereby providing an electrical connection between the male and female shields. The flexible protrusion and the flexible contact flex along axes that are generally orthogonal to one another so the flexible contact interacts with the female exterior shield substantially independently of the flexible protrusion.

A shielded electric cable assembly comprises a shielded electric cable and a shield terminal. The shield terminal comprises a ferrule of one-piece construction having an inner ferrule portion and an outer ferrule portion that is radially spaced from the inner ferrule portion and attached to the inner ferrule portion by an end wall. The inner ferrule portion is disposed between an inner insulation jacket of the shielded electric cable and an exposed end portion of an intermediate conductive layer surrounding the inner insulation jacket. The outer ferrule portion is crimped about the exposed end portion of the intermediate conductive layer to crimp the inner ferrule portion tightly around the inner insulation jacket and to clamp exposed end portion of the intermediate conductive layer between the inner ferrule portion and the outer ferrule portion of the one piece ferrule. A conductive cylindrical shell is attached to the one-piece ferrule. An inner terminal which is attached to the cable is disposed in the conductive shell.

Shielded electric cable assembly and method

A high density seal connector for use in an automotive vehicle. The connector includes a strain relief member when the strain relief member has an outer frame which in part defines the connector. The strain relief member further includes a protective inner cover which is attached to an inside surface of the frame. The inner cover also includes an inside surface and an outside surface which has a plurality of orifices therethrough. The connector also includes a resilient seal member which is molded directly to the inside surface of the inner cover. The seal member includes a plurality of seal plugs which fill a predetermined number of the orifices of the inner cover.

High density wirebond connector assembly

A battery terminal cover is provided for a battery in an automotive vehicle. The battery terminal cover includes a base portion operatively connected to a terminal lead and a retention portion disposed within the base portion to allow the battery terminal cover to be engaged after the terminal lead is fastened to the terminal of the battery to retain the base portion in a closed position over the terminal.
