Electrical receptacles configured to eliminate arc faults rather than merely detect such faults with attendant circuit disconnection, the invention contemplates low-cost, child-safe electrical receptacles useful in residential situations and which can be fitted within the confines of single gang enclosures. The safety receptacles of the invention can be used in all use situations including both residential and industrial applications to increase safe use of electrical receptacles in residential applications in particular and to decrease industrial liabilities. In essence, the safety receptacles of the invention prevent arcing during insertion of a plug into the receptacle, during residence of the plug in the receptacle and during removal of the plug from the receptacle with a substantial load to the receptacle.

Detection apparatus for sensing the operational state of an electric fence and thus an electric fence charger intended to maintain an electric charge on the fence, the invention and the several embodiments thereof find compatibility with known fence chargers whether pulse or continuous in appropriate supply voltage ranges. The detection apparatus of the invention includes a power supply such as a battery to drive a light source such as a light emitting diode which is caused to flash by circuitry carried by the apparatus, the apparatus being clipped to the fence at any location thereof to connect the circuitry to the electrical load on the fence. The light source operates in the event of a failure of the fence charger to perform properly including conditions ranging from complete failure to voltage drops of a predetermined degree or in the event of an open circuit such as can be caused by a separated fence conductor such as a fence wire. The circuitry of the invention includes in the several embodiments thereof control functions based on the operation of an integrated circuit or a transistor in combination with other circuit elements.

With regard to the disclosed power line communication system and method and related components and processes, each device to be connected to an electric power line installation can be uniquely identified (referred to as the device's electronic genetics) in such a manner that practical applications are not limited as to the number of devices connected to, or as to complexity of information or control effected by communications over, the wires of the power line installation. With its unique identity, any such device can be connected to any power line installation to communicate with any other such device connected to that installation so long as the identity information and linked operational files are within the system of devices connected to the particular installation.

The disposable liquid beverage container of the present invention comprises a first compartment for sealably containing a beverage and a second compartment adjacent the first compartment. A barrier having a translucent portion separates the first and second compartments. A light source and an energy source electrically connected to the light source are disposed in the second compartment. A switch activates the light source such that the light source shines through the translucent portion of the barrier and illuminates the beverage disposed in the first compartment of the container. A holographic image embedded in a film attached to an outside of the container is created within the first compartment when the light source is illuminated. Methods are also provided.
