According to one aspect, there is provided a method of selectively solidifying successive layers of build material in a 3D printing system. The method comprises obtaining data relating to a 3D object to be generated, forming a layer of build material on a build platform, applying to the formed layer a pattern of fusing agent corresponding to a portion of the layer to be solidified to form a layer of the object, applying to the formed layer a pattern of anti-caking agent on portions of the formed layer that are not to be solidified to form a layer of the object, and applying energy to the whole of the formed layer to cause portions of the layer on which fusing agent was applied to heat up, melt, coalesce, and then solidify upon cooling, and to cause portions of the formed layer on which anti-caking agent was applied to control caking of build material in those portions.

Reducing caking of build material

An example of a build material composition for three-dimensional (3D) printing includes a polymeric or polymeric composite build material and a wetting modifying agent. The wetting modifying agent is: (i) incorporated into the polymeric component of the polymeric or polymeric composite build material and changes the wetting behavior of the polymeric component; or (ii) selected from the group consisting of: a fluorotelomer; a C-Calcohol; a methyltrialkyl ammonium chloride; docusate sodium salt; a polymer having a chemical structure of the polymeric component of the polymeric or polymeric composite build material modified to include a hydrophobic group or a hydrophilic group; and a combination thereof.

Three-dimensional printing

In an example of a method for three-dimensional (3D) printing, a build material composition is applied to form a build material layer. The build material composition includes a polymeric or polymeric composite build material, and a precipitating agent. Based on a 3D object model, a fusing agent is selectively applied on at least a portion of the build material composition. The fusing agent includes a radiation absorber, which the precipitating agent precipitates. The build material composition is exposed to radiation to fuse the at least the portion to form a layer of a 3D part.

In an example of a method for reducing oxidation of a build material during three-dimensional printing, a portion of a layer of a polymeric build material is patterned by selectively applying a fusing agent on the portion. A detailing agent selectively applied on a non-patterned portion of the layer. The detailing agent includes a stabilizer to reduce oxidation of the polymeric build material. The layer is exposed to electromagnetic radiation to fuse the portion to form a 3D object layer. The stabilizer at least minimizes discoloration of the non-patterned portion.

In some examples, a fuser for a printing device includes a memory device comprising corrective data corresponding to a reference color table for the printing device that is able to operate in a plurality of different modes, the corrective data comprising quantized coefficients derived from a compression of a difference color table including a plurality of difference nodes in which each difference node represents a value that is to be combined with a corresponding node of the reference color table, the quantized coefficients useable to produce a reconstructed difference table. The corrective data including residue values to combine with the reconstructed difference table to produce a customized color table for a selected mode of the plurality of different modes.

Printing device supply component

A system for adding value to a host device via a mobile communication device is described. The system includes: a host device configured for providing additional value to be utilized, wherein the additional value includes at least one printing device function and is provided in response to receiving an authentication code; a central system configured for providing the authentication code for inputting into the host device to authorize the at least one printing device function to be utilized; and a mobile communication device configured for negotiating the additional value to be applied to the host device.

A method for reducing wear upon an electro-photographic printer drum includes the steps of determining a non-image region of a page to be printed, applying a halftone pattern of toner to a portion of the printer drum corresponding to the non-image region, and rotating the printer drum against a cleaning blade, the halftone pattern of toner providing lubrication between the drum and the cleaning blade.

Method for reducing wear on an electro-photographic printer drum

An initialization method of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes rotating a photosensitive member to receive toner along a width of the photosensitive member prior to activation of a charging unit and to remove the toner with a cleaning unit, and activating the charging unit configured to charge the photosensitive member in response to a determination of a completion of a predetermined number of rotations of the photosensitive member.

Image forming apparatus and method thereof

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for measuring values of a plurality of memory elements, where the measured values may be indicative of the digital state of a memory element. Calculations may be performed on a plurality of transition-terms associated with the possible transitions in the values between proximate memory elements. The digital state of memory elements may be determined using the calculations performed on the plurality of transition-terms.

Methods and apparatuses for determining the state of a memory element

A memory device includes a first surface having memory chips disposed thereon, the memory chips defining an exterior face of the memory device, and a second surface opposite the exterior face. A magnetically permeable shield layer extends over at least one of the exterior face and the second surface of the memory device.

Disclosed herein are systems and devices having memories with reference-initiated sequential sensing. In one embodiment, a reference-initiated sequential sensing method comprises: forming a first attribute measurement associated with a stored data value in a first memory element; using the first memory element to determine a decision threshold; comparing the first attribute measurement to the decision threshold to determine the stored data value in the first memory element; forming a subsequent attribute measurement associated with a stored data value in a subsequent memory element; and comparing the subsequent attribute value to the decision threshold to determine a data value stored in the subsequent memory element.

Memory with reference-initiated sequential sensing

A system and method for determining the logic state of a memory cell in a magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) memory device based on the ratio of the current through the cell at different bias points are disclosed. A memory cell in an MJT memory device is sequentially subjected to at least two different bias voltages. The current through the cell at each of the bias voltages is measured, and a ratio of the different currents is determined. The ratio is then compared with a predetermined value to determine the logic state of the cell. The predetermined value can be a known value. Alternatively, the predetermined value can be determined by application of the system and method to a reference cell having a known logic state.

System and method for determining the logic state of a memory cell in a magnetic tunnel junction memory device

A method for reading the magnetization orientation of a memory cell includes applying a magnetic field to the memory cell, observing any change in resistance of the memory cell as the magnetic field is applied, and determining the magnetization orientation based upon the observed change in resistance of the memory cell.

System and method for reading magnetization orientation of MRAM cells

An atomic force microscope for examining a sample is described. The atomic force microscope includes a probe assembly that includes a first tip and a second tip each directed towards a surface of a sample. The AFM further includes a source for applying a potential across the first tip and the second tip; at least one mechanism operable to cause relative motion between the surface and the probe; and at least one sensor operable to sense current flowing between the first tip and the second tip.
