A method of producing a four-layer silicon diode, including selecting a first silicon wafer, wherein said first silicon wafer is CZ-grown B-doped with <100> orientation, a resistivity of less than 0.01 Ohm-cm, and an oxygen content of greater than 10 ppma, and then selecting a second silicon wafer, wherein said second silicon wafer is CZ-grown P-doped with <100> orientation, a resistivity of less than 0.005 Ohm-cm, and an oxygen content of greater than 10 ppma, followed by cleaning the respective first and second silicon wafers. The wafers are then HF treated to yield respective first and second cleaned wafers, the first cleaned wafer is positioned into a first furnace and the second cleaned wafer is positioned into a second furnace, wherein the first and second furnaces are not unitary. Next is annealing the respective first and second cleaned wafers in a reducing atmosphere to yield respective first and second respective out-diffused gradient wafers, followed by bonding together respective first and second heat-treated wafers to yield a mated and/or bonded four-layer substrate having a first heavy doped n-type layer, a second gradient doped n-type layer, a third gradient doped p-type layer, and a fourth heavy doped p-type layer.

A class of design topologies in the field of nonlinear networks (NLN) or nonlinear transmission lines (NLTL) that re-utilize direct current (DC) and low-frequency (LF) signal content reflected from a load or an output filter to yield increased pulse to radio frequency conversion efficiency and increased overall system efficiency. A nonlinear transmission line topology comprises a plurality of series inductive elements and a plurality of nonlinear capacitive elements. The inductive elements and the capacitive elements are arranged in a periodic structure forming a nonlinear network. An output coupling circuit connected across an output of the nonlinear network is configured to transmit high-frequency content to a load and to reflect back direct current and low-frequency content into the nonlinear network.

The magnetic food storage is formed from a container and a lid, each with one or more embedded magnets. The magnets interact with each other to hold the containers to each other, hold lids to containers, and hold lids to lids. The magnets are preferably molded inside of the lid and inside the container, the magnets being surrounded by material. This avoids any contact between stored food and the magnets, thus preventing contamination.

A method of forming a low-dielectric-constant amorphous hydrogenated boron carbide film on a substrate includes positioning the substrate within a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) chamber, providing a boron carbide precursor and introducing the boron carbide precursor into a carrier gas to form a carrier gas-precursor mixture. The method also includes introducing the carrier gas-precursor mixture into the PECVD chamber. The method also includes applying radio frequency power within the PECVD chamber to the carrier gas-precursor mixture to form one or more plasmas containing one or more species containing at least one of boron, carbon or hydrogen. The method also includes forming the low-dielectric-constant amorphous hydrogenated boron carbide film on the substrate within the PECVD chamber.

A neutron detection apparatus includes a neutron detector and an analyzer. The neutron detector includes a plurality of neutron detector assemblies, where each of the neutron detector assemblies includes a plurality of neutron detection devices. The neutron detector also includes a moderating volume. The plurality of neutron detector assemblies are disposed within the moderating volume so as to form a three-dimensional array of neutron detection devices within the moderating volume. The analyzer is communicatively coupled to each of the neutron detection devices of the plurality of neutron detector assemblies. The analyzer configured to receive one or more measured response signals from each of the neutron detection devices, and perform one or more analysis procedures to determine one or more characteristics associated with the one or more neutron sources based at least on the received one or more measured response signals.

Apparatus and method for the determination of one or more neutron source characteristics

A neutron detection system may include a neutron detector including a plurality of neutron detection devices, a plurality of discrete neutron moderating elements, wherein each of the neutron moderating elements is disposed between two or more neutron detection devices, the plurality of neutron detection devices and the plurality of discrete neutron moderating elements disposed along a common axis, a control system configured to generate a detector response library, wherein the detector response library includes one or more sets of data indicative of a response of the detector to a known neutron source, receive one or more measured neutron response signals from each of the neutron devices, the one or more measured response signals response to a detected neutron event, and determine one or more characteristics of neutrons emanating from a measured neutron source by comparing the one or more measured neutron response signals to the detector response library.

Apparatus and method for determination of one or more free neutron characteristics

A neutron detection system includes a plurality of neutron detector assemblies, the neutron detector assemblies including a plurality of neutron detection devices, wherein the neutron detection devices are configured to detect one or more characteristics of neutrons emanating from one or more neutron sources and impinging on one or more neutron detection devices; a plurality of discrete moderating elements, wherein each of the discrete moderating elements is disposed proximate to at least one neutron detector assembly, the plurality of neutron detector assemblies and the plurality of discrete moderating elements disposed along a common axis, wherein the discrete moderating elements are configured to moderate the energy of neutrons impinging on one or more of the neutron-photon detector assemblies; and a control system configured to: determine one or more characteristics associated with the one or more neutron sources based on the received one or more measured response signals.

The invention presents a dual-mode hybrid high occupancy capacity vehicle (HHOCV) with a novel electrical energy and power storage application, electrical energy and power source and charging system in conjunction with additional methods to maximize the energy and rate of use such that the overall system is far superior to multiple personal transportation vehicles and roadway based catenary mass transit systems, including, but not limited to petroleum-only fueled high occupancy capacity vehicles. The HHOCV exhibits a novel battery charging system by taking advantage of existing track/trolley/catenary facilities for electrically charging its electrical storage media at a high energy rate so as to minimize disruption of such charging services, and is not confined by physical boundaries or limitations and may travel off the power source to the existing common roadways returning only to be recharged. The design incorporates software controllers and other devices to maintain the energy transfer rate and is of such physical size that the overall invention may either be retrofitted to existing buses or designed within new high occupancy vehicles.

Apparatus and system for low voltage direct current at industrial power recharging of hybrid high occupancy capacity on-road transportation vehicles

Amorphous semiconductor films with enhanced charged carrier transport are disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for fabricating and treating the film to produce the enhanced transport. Also disclosed are semiconductor p-n junctions fabricated with the films which demonstrate the enhanced transport. The films are amorphous and include boron, carbon, and hydrogen.

Boron carbide particle detectors

An earth anchor for a pole that includes a base, a spike, and attaching apparatus. The base has a lowermost face for contacting the earth, an uppermost face opposite to the lowermost face, and a longitudinal axis. The spike is for insertion into the earth, and depends from the lowermost face of the base. The attaching apparatus is for engaging a pole, and is disposed on the uppermost face of the base. The base is disk-shaped with a circular periphery for providing a blunt round edge that eliminates corners when tipped on which a player could fall and be injured, and is wide for leaving enough room for the pole to still be pushed into the earth using foot pressure. The attaching apparatus includes a stop boss disposed on the uppermost face of the base, along the longitudinal axis of the base, which centers the attaching apparatus for allowing the pole to have identical stability in all directions. The attaching apparatus further includes a peg that extends coaxially upwardly from, and is narrower than, the stop boss. The attaching apparatus further includes a coil spring for snugly receiving, and allowing 360 degrees of freedom for, the pole, and which extends coaxially-upwardly from, and with a portion thereof fitting snugly around, the peg, until the stop boss of the attaching apparatus. The attaching apparatus can include, in place of the stop boss, the peg, and the coils spring, a sleeve.

Earth anchor for supporting a pole

A device for rebounding a soccer ball kicked thereupon and for hugging the ground to prevent the soccer ball from rolling thereunder. The device includes a pair of uprights that extend vertically upwardly from the ground, a net that extends across the pair of upright, and a pair of guy ropes that extend from the pair of uprights and engage the ground. The net has a lower lateral edge that hugs the ground to prevent the soccer ball from rolling thereunder and a pair of longitudinal ends that replaceably engage, respectively, the pair of uprights. Each upright has a throughbore. Each longitudinal end of the net is formed into a sleeve that replaceably and slidingly receives an associated upright. Each sleeve has a throughbore that is aligned with the throughbore in the associated upright, which allows an associated rope to pass therethrough and engage in the throughbore in the associated upright, with a substantial midpoint of the associated rope disposed in the associated upright and with the associated rope wrapped around an outer half of the associated upright and maintained thereat by a knot.

Soccer practice return net

A sports goal for minimizing injury to a player striking thereupon that includes a frame and a net that extends across the frame. The frame is tubular and includes four posts that extend vertically upwardly from a surface, at four corners of an imaginary rectangle, a front cross member that extends horizontally across the uppermost ends of a forwardmost pair of posts of the four posts of the frame. The forwardmost pair of posts of the four posts of the frame are releasably attached to the front cross member of the frame, which allows the forwardmost pair of posts of the four posts of the frame to break away from the front cross member of the frame when struck by the player for preventing injury thereto, while the remainder of the frame remains erect. Each end of the front cross member of the frame has a pin that depends therefrom that is releasably received in a blind bore that extends axially in the uppermost ends of the forwardmost pair of posts of the four posts of the frame.

Releasable/break-away sports goal

A training device for soccer for placement on a field and for allowing a soccer ball to be rebounded thereoff, kicked therethrough, and played therearound by a soccer player. The device includes a pair of identical supports for placement on a field and a plurality of planks that extend between the pair of supports. The pair of identical supports are inverted U-shaped. The plurality of planks include a plurality of top planks that extend longitudinally from one support to the other support, at their tops. The plurality of top planks are affixed to each support by top carriage bolts that depend through each top plank, through a respective support, and through top washers and threadably engage top nuts, with the plurality of top planks completely closing the training device for soccer, at its top. The plurality of planks further include a plurality of side planks that extend longitudinally from one support to the other support, at their sides. The plurality of side planks are affixed to each support by side carriage bolts that pass laterally through each side plank, through the respective support, and through side washers and threadably engage side nuts, with the plurality of side planks completely closing the training device for soccer, at both its sides, while leaving the training device for soccer completely open at its front, rear, and bottom.
