Network rack systems for physically supporting modules of a network element and cable management structures for maintaining network cables in an organized manner are provided. An auxiliary side cabinet, according to one implementation, includes a frame configured for physical attachment to a side portion of a main rack structure, where the main rack structure is configured to support a plurality of modules of a Network Element (NE). The auxiliary side cabinet further includes a front plane connected to a front portion of the frame. Also, the auxiliary side cabinet includes one or more connector panels supported on the front plane. Each of the one or more connector panels is configured to support a plurality of connectors. The plurality of connectors are configured for communication with associated connectors of the modules of the NE via cables. Also, the plurality of connectors are configured as high pin count connectors.

A networking hardware system includes a housing; a board located in the housing and comprising a plurality of components; a liquid cooled heat exchanger; and one or more fans disposed near the liquid cooled heat exchanger and configured to provide cool airflow from the liquid cooled heat exchanger to any of the plurality of components. The housing can be substantially sealed from an external environment and includes no air intake thereon, removing a need for higher powered fans and for air filtering for dust. The housing can include a faceplate with no air intake thereon, providing increased density for ports on the faceplate.

A pluggable-modules holder for a plurality of pluggable-modules of a rack-mounted unit is disclosed. The pluggable-modules holder includes a holder body and a plurality of holder ports. Each of the holder ports extends through the holder body and is sized to hold a portion of a respective pluggable-module. The holder body can be configured to connect to a rack-mounted unit before and/or after the plurality of pluggable-modules can be inserted into the plurality of holder ports.

Systems and methods of managing a modular network element as a single entity and the modular network element includes a plurality of line modules and zero or more switch modules in a chassis. The plurality of line modules are located separate from the chassis and connected to the chassis and/or to one another via cabling. The method includes operating a management plane between the plurality of line modules and the zero or more switch modules via one or more dedicated links in the cabling; managing the plurality of line modules and the zero or more switch modules as a single network element utilizing a chassis management protocol over the management plane; and designating one of a controller in the chassis and a processor in one of the plurality of line modules operating as a virtual controller as primary for the chassis management protocol.

The solution of the present disclosure connects the power in parallel distribution chains. A horizontal pizza box in the middle of the equipment stack represents the power box (PB), which houses the power modules (PMs), such as the power input modules (PIMs) or the power supply units (PSUs). The PMs in the PB are connected to the office power source(s), and the PB supplies power to the parallel distribution chains (A' and B&#x2032;). The parallel distribution chains are composed of jumper segments that are based on busbar-like technology, with each jumper segment being the length of the distance between coupled boxes. Any box can be removed without disrupting either distribution chain. Advantageously, the jumper segments are touch-proof, from a safety perspective. Thus, instead of a jumper created using a cable, PCB, etc., or a jumper composed of a custom molded back-to-back connector, the jumpers are based on busbar-like technology.

Stackable telecommunications equipment power distribution assembly and method

Systems and methods for a hybrid control and cooling module with an independently removable cooling section for a network device. A control module for a network device includes a frame. A printed circuit board is disposed on the frame. Connectors are configured to operably connect the printed circuit board to mid-plane connectors of a shelf of a network device. A control module mounting system is disposed on the frame and is configured to slidably mount the control module to a shelf of a network device. A cooling module guidance system is disposed on the frame and is configured to slidably mount thereon a cooling module for a network device.

Systems and methods of Ethernet path selection in a modular network element including one or more ingress line modules, a plurality of switch modules in a chassis, and one or more egress line modules, wherein the one or more ingress line modules and the one or more egress line modules are located separate from one another and connected to the chassis via cabling. The method includes distributing one or more Ethernet flows from the one or more ingress line modules to the one or more egress line modules via the plurality of switch modules; receiving fabric state information at the one or more ingress line modules from the core chassis out-of-band via the cabling; and, responsive to congestion on a path through the plurality of switch modules, selecting a new path by an ingress line module for an Ethernet flow.

A split backplane for a telecommunication, networking, or computing device includes a power backplane comprising power connectors; a signal backplane comprising signal connectors, wherein the signal backplane is separate from the power backplane, and wherein one or more modules are adapted to selectively connect to the power connectors and the signal connectors simultaneously; and an alignment bar connected between the power backplane and the signal backplane for alignment and stiffening of the power backplane and the signal backplane together for signal integrity and to prevent connector pins from bending or failing between the one or more modules, the power connectors, and the signal connectors.

A system, a shelf, and a high density platform optimize the physical arrangement of cards to maximize cooling effectiveness and line card pitch while minimizing backplane trace lengths between line interface and switch fabric cards. The shelf and system and associated card arrangement supports scaling to a larger, double-size system that maintains the required length of backplane traces for card communications without compromising card cooling. Advantageously, the shelf and system maintains full NEBS compliance through an arrangement supporting full air intake/outtake through a front and/or back of the shelf or system, i.e. no side ventilation, and includes a false front to ensure all cards (switch fabric and line interface cards) are substantially flush with one another.

High density networking shelf and system

A chassis arrangement includes different depth cards with associated Faraday cages. The chassis arrangement provides support for a first set of cards at a first depth and with a first set of fans, the chassis forming a Faraday cage with either set of cards. The second depth can be greater than the first depth, providing additional space for components to support additional functionality. Changing the first set of fans with the second set of fans and upgrading the first set of cards to the second set of cards is performed in-service, extending a life span of the chassis through in-service upgrades to multiple chassis configurations.

A system, a shelf, and a high density platform optimize physical arrangement of cards to maximize cooling effectiveness and line card pitch while minimizing backplane trace lengths between line interface and switch fabric cards.
