In at least some aspects, an instrument port for introducing an instrument into a surgical site comprises: a port body having: an instrument channel extending through the port body; and a plurality of fluid flush channels each separate from one another and the instrument channel, each extending along a major portion of the port body and in fluid communication with the instrument channel; and a bulb comprising a bulb channel extending through the bulb, the bulb channel aligned with the instrument channel, wherein the bulb channel and instrument channel are configured to receive the instrument.

An optical bulb for a medical device includes first and second bodies. The first body has a substantially hemispherical distal side. The second body extends from the first body and includes a mechanical connection point at or near the proximal side of the second body. An instrument channel extends through the optical bulb from the proximal side of the second body to the distal side of the first body. An imaging channel extends an aperture defined in the proximal side of the second body and terminates between the proximal and substantially hemispherical distal sides of the first body. The distal end of the imaging channel is substantially hemispherical. The first body is configured and arranged to provide a substantially uniform image path within a field of view of a camera disposed in the imaging channel.

Optical bulb for surgical instrument port

An instrument port includes a port body, a bulb disposed at the distal end of the port body, a base body disposed at the proximal end of the port body, a hollow cylindrical body mechanically coupled to the base body, and a plurality of connecting rods disposed parallel to the port body. Each connecting rod includes a distal rod portion that is mechanically coupled to a respective distal-facing exterior surface of a bulb flange and a proximal rod portion that is mechanically coupled to a respective proximal-facing surface of the base body. A spring applies a spring force against the port body to press the port body into the bulb to mechanically secure the bulb to the base body.

A gasket for creating a fluid seal in a medical device includes a flexible base, a flexible hollow body, and a multi-leaflet valve. The flexible hollow body extends along an axis from a hole defined in the flexible base. The flexible hollow body is configured to have a relaxed state in which a cross section of the flexible hollow body has a first shape and a compressed state in which the cross section of the flexible hollow body has a second shape. The multi-leaflet valve is disposed in the flexible hollow body. The compressed state causes the multi-leaflet valve to close to increase (a) a first threshold force or a first threshold pressure differential needed to open the multi-leaflet valve in a distal direction and (b) a second threshold force or a second threshold pressure differential needed to open the multi-leaflet valve in a proximal direction.
