A reusable pipette-tip holder that doubles the density of the number of pipette tips able to be stored within a single container, while conserving the total amount of material, packaging and storage space. The invention creates a rigid box by the joining, bottom to bottom, of two pipette-racks each having a standard matrix of pipette-receiving holes. The new design permits pipettes to be inserted from both the top and bottom of the box, because the centerline spacing of the rows of pipette-receiving holes on the top and bottom surfaces is offset with respect to each other. Rows of pipette tips from one side of the container nest between the free space in adjacent rows of tips inserted from the other side of the container.

A culture dish for growing cultures such as tissue cells, bacteria and the like. The culture dish includes a handle extending therefrom that can be easily grasped by a user when lifting or handling the culture dish. The culture dish can also include a lid that can be placed on a base of the dish to prevent contamination of the cultures and to control evaporation of liquid from the dish. The handle can extend from the base, the lid or both. If the handles are provided on both the base and the lid, they can be configured differently so that a user can readily distinguish between them.

A multi-well test plate which includes a base and a plurality of well strips. The well strips are removable from the base and the individual wells of each strip are separable. The wells in each strip are joined by T-shaped connecting members which hold the wells in a flat linear array when the well strips are either held in or removed from the base and the T-shaped members are readily severable to permit easy separation of individual wells. The bottom wall of each well is a microporous membrane.

Multi-well test plate

A hand-held, manually operated pipetter having a variable volume controlled by a rotating spindle and adjusting screw that control the position of a stop which limits the upper end of the stroke of the pipetter piston. The lower end of the stroke is controlled by a movable stop urged to a first position by a blow-out spring which may be overcome with additional force applied to the pipetter piston when the lower stop is engaged. The pipetter also includes a stripper which surrounds the tip holder and which is actuated by a rod movable in the body of the pipetter along a path parallel to the path of the pipetter piston. The pipetter piston and the stripper rod are controlled by separate actuators which may readily be engaged by the thumb of the hand which holds the body of the device.
