A rotor for an electric machine includes a magnetic core configured for arrangement on a shaft. An end ring is arranged on opposite axial ends of the magnetic core. A composite sleeve includes an annular body including an inner surface and an outer surface, and a polymer matrix encapsulating circumferentially oriented fibers. The composite sleeve includes a first tapered portion on the inner surface arranged adjacent to an axial end thereof and configured to facilitate press-fitting of the composite sleeve onto the rotor.

A center bore is defined by the plurality of laminations. A longitudinal axis of the rotor core assembly extends along an axial center of the center bore. A carbon fiber sleeve surrounds the plurality of laminations. Magnet slots are defined by the plurality of laminations. The magnet slots extend parallel to the longitudinal axis. Magnets are seated in the magnet slots. Reinforcing bores are defined by, and extend across, the plurality of laminations. Reinforcing members are seated in the reinforcing bores.

An electric machine includes a stator, a rotor configured to rotate relative to the stator, an air gap between the stator and the rotor, and a conductive winding disposed in the rotor or the stator. The conductive winding includes a first portion having a first conductivity and a second portion having a second conductivity, the second portion disposed radially between the first portion and the air gap, the first conductivity being different than the second conductivity.

The suspension system includes a damper having a first damping element and a second damping element configured to rotate relative to each other in response to a force received at the suspension system. The second damping element induces an eddy current in the first damping element during relative rotation. A feature of one at least one of the first damping element and the second damping element provides a first electrical resistance to the eddy current during relative rotation in a first direction and a second electrical resistance to the eddy current during relative rotation in a second direction. The first electrical resistance generates a first damping force and the second electrical resistance generates a second damping force.

The adhesive coating is formed on the inner surfaces of the rotor body by depositing a precursor composition on the inner surfaces of a rotor body and exposing the precursor composition to a plasma. The precursor composition comprises an organofunctional silane or a hydrolysate thereof.

Presented are metal-coated, polymer-encapsulated power semiconductor modules, methods for making/using such power modules, and vehicles with traction power inverters containing such power modules. A power electronics assembly includes one or more power semiconductor modules packaged inside an assembly housing. Each power module includes a substrate, a semiconductor device mounted on the substrate, a polymeric encapsulant encasing therein the substrate and semiconductor device, and an electrical lead connected to the semiconductor device and projecting from the polymeric encapsulant. A metallic or ceramic coating is applied to select sections of the polymeric encapsulant's exposed exterior surface. The metallic/ceramic coating may be a single metallic layer that covers substantially all of the exposed surface area of the polymeric encapsulant's exterior surface. An optional hydrophobic polymer layer, passivated layer, and/or oxidized layer may cover the exterior surface of this metallic layer. Alternatively, another metallic layer or intercalated lamellar microstructures may cover the metallic layer.

Further, the method includes applying a compressive force on the external surface of the rotor core with an annular sleeve.
