Process flow for a stacked power diode and design of the resulting diode is disclosed. Blanket epitaxy over heavy doped wafers is performed. By controlling dopant addition during epitaxy, desired n-type, diode base, and p-type doping profiles and thicknesses achieved. V-groove pattern if formed on wafers by depositing mask film, lithography and anisotropic etch. Islands surrounded by V-grooves define individual diodes. V-grooves serve as side insulation. Next, oxidation step passivates V-grooves. Further, the mask film is stripped to open diode contact areas on both sides of wafers. Next high melting point metal and low melting point metal films are selectively electroplated on all open silicon surfaces. Stacking is performed on wafer level by bonding of desired wafer count by solid-liquid interdiffusion process. Wafer stacks are sawed into individual stacked diode dies along outer slopes of V-grooves. Final stacked devices can be used as DSRD—drift step recovery diodes. Compared to DSRDs made by known methods, better fabrication yield and higher pulse power electrical performance is achieved.

Stacked diode with side passivation and method of making the same

The marker rotation and retention device maintains multiple markers together, making it easier for a user to maintain the markers as a set. Optionally, the marker rotation and retention device includes angular rotation stops that are able to hold the angular position of specific marker with respect to its neighbors. This allows the user to easily withdraw and replace a specific marker by keeping the entrance to the cap exposed.

Marker retention and rotation device

A fully foldable mud flap has an upper flap section having a magnet permanently attached and a lower flap section having a magnet of the opposite polarity attached. The flap sections are connected by a hinge which allows rotation of the lower flap section in relation to the upper flap section, such that, in the retracted position, the lower flap section is parallel to and directly faces the upper flap section, with the magnets securing the flap sections in this position. The mud flap can be conveniently manually folded and unfolded, when desired.

Foldable mud flaps

A sports goal assembly having a goal frame defining an upright goalmouth on a shared soccer/football playing field is provided. The goal frame includes a spaced-apart, opposed pair of elongate base rails that each extend rearward of the goalmouth and along and parallel to an underlying surface of the playing field to support the goal assembly on the playing field. An elongate base crossbar interconnects the base rails and extends transversely therebetween. Each of the elongate base rails includes a front section adjacent the goalmouth, a rear section remote from the goalmouth, and an intermediate section. The base crossbar is connected to, and extends from, the intermediate sections of the base rails, and the rear sections of the base rails include counterbalancing weights to stabilize the goal assembly.

Soccer goal for use on shared fields

A training device for use as a playing field obstacle during athletic training exercises. The training device includes a weighted base supportable on an underlying ground surface. The base has at least one wheel enabling ready repositioning of the base on the playing field and an upper wall with an upward-opening slot. The base can also include a dummy obstacle having a body portion and a base plug portion. The base plug portion is receivable within the slot of the base for connecting the dummy obstacle to the base such that, when the dummy obstacle is connected to the base, the body portion of the dummy obstacle is supported in a substantially upright position. The base may further include one or more coaching sticks removably secured within receptacles in a position extending or projecting from the base.

Base support for a sport training obstacle

An anchoring device for a sports goal, such as a soccer goal, is provided as a portable bag having a pair of laterally spaced-apart weight-carrying compartments interconnected by at least one central strip of material. The central strip defines at least one opening extending between the weight-carrying compartments, and the portable bag is of a size capable of straddling a base rail of a sports goal frame such that the weight-carrying compartments are located on opposite sides of the base rail while the strip extends over the base rail. When the portable bag straddles the base rail, the opening permits a goal net to be fastened to the base rail of the goal frame between the weight-carrying compartments.

Portable anchoring device for a sports goal

An assembly including a tubular connector and at least one framing member having a hollow open end and a longitudinally-extending recessed channel. The recessed channel is formed by at least a pair of opposed inwardly-directed walls having inner peripheral surfaces that taper toward one another in a substantially V-shaped configuration. The connector is slidably received within the hollow end of the framing member and has a longitudinally-extending inset track for cooperatively receiving and engaging the tapered inner peripheral surfaces of the channel walls of the framing member. The inset track has outer peripheral surfaces formed by outwardly tapered walls, whereby when the inset track and recessed channel are urged together by a fastener, a slip-resistant joint is formed therebetween. Sports goal assemblies and methods of assembly are also disclosed.

Connector for sports goal frame

A vandal resistant sports goal net clip, or fastener, for attaching nets to the frames of sports goals. The fasteners are difficult to remove by hand and require the use of a separate tool to attach and remove the net from the frame. Sports goal assemblies and methods of securing nets to goal frames are also disclosed.

Tamper resistant fastener for sports netting

Illustrative embodiments of the invention are directed to a fragmentation casing for a munition in which the size and distribution pattern of the shrapnel is carefully controlled. Typically, the casing is formed from a stacked array of rings in which angularly oriented inner and outer surface grooves form apertures at the mutual intersections. Through control of ring size, groove depth and shape, a light-weight, efficient fragmentation casing is provided in which the size, shape and bursting pattern of the resulting shrapnel is regulated in a predetermined manner.

Anti-personnel fragmentation liner

A different, or additional safety mechanism is provided for hand grenades and other munitions. Illustratively, a latch, pivotally mounted on the safety handle or explosive filling plug of a conventional fragmentation grenade immobilizes the otherwise free end of the grenade's safety handle. In this way, the ring and safety pin combination can be eliminated because the latch now provides an alternate safety. The latch also prevents the dangerous field abuse of carrying grenades from accouterment or uniforms by means of the safety handles or the safety pin rings.

Hand grenade safety device

A typical embodiment of the invention has a gasket pressed between the flange on a hand grenade fuze and the bore in the grenade's firing mechanism body that exposes the percussion cap to the striker in order to make the fuze waterproof and dirtproof. A threaded ferrule bears against the flange to press the gasket into this engagement. A portion of the ferrule extends over a length of the fuze housing to provide a heat shield that establishes the burning time of the fuze. In this way, striker impact is enhanced through a rigid, although readily removable fuze mounting; attenuated fuze effects caused by fully waterproofed fuze lengths are avoided; and fuze assembly is completed after the striker is 'cocked' and secured by the safety handle and associated cotter pin.

Firing mechanism

Illustrative embodiments of the invention provide a visually inspectable primer and detonating charge cannister for a fuse for hand grenades and other munitions and explosives. The delay charge, moreover, is effectively symmetrical to permit reliable fuze operation in spite of incorrect assembly. The primer is sealed in its bore in the fuse body by means of a crimped ring which leaves the primer exposed to visual inspection to insure its correct orientation within the fuse. The delay charge is made symmetrical by removing the initiator charge from its usual location in the delay charge housing and placing the initiator in a detonating charge cannister. By placing the initiator next to the crimped end of a detonating charge cannister, the detonating charge also becomes not only amenable to visual inspection, but also less subject to deterioration through moisture attack.

Impact-detonated time delay fuse

A toy gun of the revolver type which is capable of employing various types of ammunition and incorporating in the head of the cylinder a plurality of chambers having a rod in each chamber functioning as a percussion anvil for cup like ammunition, and including at least a perimetral non-circular shoulder inscribed in a polygon. The number of the sides of the polygon is a submultiple of the anvils to assure the angular positioning of a laminar ammunition. The laminar ammunition is a sandwich construction with explosive charges held between two layers and spaced from each other angularly and radially from the center so as to conform with the anvils of the gun and presents a profile of its external perimeter and/or of a central hole to complement a corresponding profiled shoulder associated with the cylinder head of the gun to position the charges on the anvils.
