Methods and systems for performing modified reverb techniques for audio signals are described. The method may involve receiving an audio signal, a modal reverb effect to be applied to the audio signal, and an indication of a plurality of frequencies. Modes of vibration of a space simulated by the reverb effect may be separated into a set of frequencies included in the input, and a set frequencies not included in the input. The modal reverb effect may be modified by separately adjusting the separate sets of modes of vibration. The modified effect may then be applied to the audio signal.

Modal reverb effects for an acoustic space

A frequency detection and display device includes a body having a vibratory portion configured for vibrating at a predetermined frequency. In this manner, the vibratory portion provides a visible indication corresponding to the predetermined frequency in response to vibration of an object, such as a stringed musical instrument, to which the frequency detection and display device is attached.

Musical instrument tuner

The technology relates to processing one or more audio streams. The processing may include segmenting the one or more audio streams into structural components comprising a tonal stream and a transient stream. The tonal stream and the transient stream may be processed and combined to provide an output sound signal. The one or more audio streams may include a first audio stream from a first sound source and a second audio stream from a second sound source. The tonal stream may comprise sound from the first audio stream and the transient stream may comprise sound from the second audio stream. One or more sound effects may be added to the tonal stream or transient stream prior to combining.

Tonal/transient structural separation for audio effects

A method for controlling media stream processing comprises: (a) transmitting a media stream, via a first packet-based network, to an operator; (b) receiving from the operator, via a second packet-based network, a control signal for processing the media stream; (c) processing the media stream based on the control signal; and (d) transmitting the processed media stream to one or more users other than the operator. In another embodiment, an apparatus for controlling media stream processing comprises a server adapted to effect transmission of a media stream, via a first packet-based network, to an operator. The apparatus further comprises a processor adapted (i) to effect processing of the media stream based on a control signal received from the operator via a second packet-based network, and (ii) to provide the processed media stream to a transmitter for transmission to one or more users other than the operator.

Network-based control of audio/video stream processing

A method for mixing source audio signals and an audio signal mixing system including a spectral content analyzer to determine the spectral content of input audio signals and to arrange the spectral content of the respective input audio signals into a plurality of spectral bands. Based on the determined energy levels in each of the spectral bands of the respective input audio signals, the audio signal mixing system modifies the energy levels corresponding to one of the input audio signals in a predetermined manner. In essence, the system looks at the spectral data content corresponding to each input audio signal (for example first and second audio input signals) and carves energy out of the energy levels of one of those spectral data signals in the spectral bands where the other spectral data signal has energy levels. The combination of the carved-out spectral data signal with the untouched spectral data signal yields a cleaner overall signal as a result of reduction of competition for dominance of energy levels in predetermined spectral bands, and accordingly, less psychoacoustic masking.

Method for mixing source audio signals and an audio signal mixing system

Contained within a single housing (120), is a transducer (100) for receiving an acoustic signal, an analog-to-digital converter (108), which changes the output of transducer (100) into a series of digital pulses representing the incoming acoustic signal. The output of the system may be in serial form. This serial output (114) is transmitted (116) to a remote receiver (122) by wires, light, optical fibers, or as radio waves. The receiver's (122) output (124) is applied to a digital system (130), which processes or reconstructs the acoustic signal. The system may include a digital signal processor (300) within the housing (120) for processing the signal (110) prior to transmission. The analog to digital converter may be a delta-sigma oversampling type, or a sub-ranging floating point type, or use adaptive differential pulse code modulation. Power may be derived remotely by transmission over the signal medium.

Digital output transducer

A self-contained, real-time spectrum analyzer performs the function of spectrum analysis on one or more analog electrical signals. The analyzer consists of an oversampling analog-to-digital converter 104, which converts the input signal 100 to digital form. The digital signal enters a digital signal processing integrated circuit microprocessor 108, which is operated by a stored program 112 that includes a spectrum analysis program 116. The output 122 of the digital signal processor 108 can be converted to analog signals by digital analog converters 124 for display on an external oscilloscope. A variable frequency oscillator 200 controls the sampling of the analog-to-digital converter 104, providing continuously variable analysis bandwidth. The output of the digital signal processor 108 can be applied to a display register and driver 300, which changes the output into a data format 302 suitable for use by a flat screen display 304. Visual output is presented to the user on a flat screen display 304, such as a liquid crystal display or electroluminescent display.
