A method and device are disclosed that establish secure electronic communication between an infrastructure device and a remote provider of services to an autonomous vehicle. In response to the autonomous vehicle driving within a predetermined distance of the infrastructure device, the remote provider sends authorizing credentials to the infrastructure device and the autonomous vehicle. Using the authorizing credentials, the infrastructure device and the autonomous vehicle establishing a trusted communication. Through the trusted communication, the infrastructure device sends to the autonomous vehicle a data set including coordinate data of at least one road user.

Road user detecting and communication device and method

An example method and apparatus are disclosed. An infrastructure device is mounted to construction equipment located at a road construction zone with an input view of a predefined area of a road. The device may receive sensor data of road users and the road construction zone. Responsive to the sensor data, the device classifies objects as construction lane markers and determines coordinates of the construction lane markers. Using map data indicative of drivable lane boundaries of the road construction zone, the device determines whether the construction lane markers are within the drivable lane boundaries. Responsive to the determination, temporary lane boundaries for the construction zone are computed and transmitted in a data set to at least one autonomous vehicle.

Construction zone apparatus and method

A vehicle peripheral device system comprising a first peripheral state manager that manages a persistent connection between a computing device and a vehicle and a second peripheral state manager that manages on-demand connections between the computing device and the vehicle, wherein the vehicle is presented to a user of the computing device as a persistent peripheral device when either the persistent connection or the on-demand connection is available, wherein at least some on-demand connections are initiated by the computing device requiring access to the vehicle device.

A method of interfacing a portable transceiver in a telematics system comprising the steps of: a) bringing a portable wireless transceiver into proximity of a vehicle, wherein the portable wireless transceiver has short range and long range wireless transceiving functions; b) automatically switching the portable wireless transceiver from a power-off state to a power-on state in response to a short range wireless signal from the vehicle; and c) operating the portable wireless transceiver as a telecommunications device for at least one system within the vehicle through a short range wireless link.

Method and system for interfacing a portable transceiver in a telematics system

The present invention relates to methods of torque transfer, torque transfer units, and vehicles incorporating the same. According to the method, a delta signal indicative of a rotational condition of the first driveline is generated and a torque transfer unit is controlled as a function of a torque transfer control algorithm. The control algorithm commands a transfer torque representing an amount of torque to transfer from the source of power to one of the first and second drivelines. The torque transfer control algorithm is a function of the delta signal and is substantially independent of any rotational condition of the second driveline over a primary operational range of the algorithm. Reference values may comprise a desired vehicle acceleration value, an actual vehicle acceleration value, a vehicle ground speed value, temporally displaced first driveline acceleration values, temporally displaced first driveline speed values, and combinations thereof.

Drive torque transfer scheme

A radio communications method comprising the steps of: selecting a first content; selecting a second content; simultaneously broadcasting digital information representing the first and second contents over a single broadcast channel; receiving in a vehicle the broadcast of digital information representing the first and second contents, receiving a sensor signal indicating a number of occupants in the vehicle; selecting one of the first and second contents in response to the sensor signal; and playing the selected content over an audio system in the vehicle.

Radio communication system and method

A switch selectively connects an airbag inflator or a load resistor to a crash sensing module to enable or disable an airbag. A transistor circuit across the load resistor detects whether deployment current is flowing in that resistor. Another transistor activated by the first transistor passes current to a fuse to open the fuse, permanently indicating a deployment event when the airbag was disabled. A latch circuit holds the second transistor on to assure sufficient time to open the fuse by melting.

A circuit including a sender providing a sender output signal responsive to a vehicle parameter, circuitry for providing an adjustable reference, circuitry for comparing the output signal to the adjustable reference and providing a comparison output signal therefrom, an up/down counter for filtering the comparison output signal, and circuitry for providing an indicator control signal in response to the filtered output signal and for controlling the adjustment of the adjustable reference, provides a signal to a vehicle operator that is both filtered and has hysteresis to minimize repeated switching of the signal between two states.
