Described herein are compositions useful for infusing color into nonwoven polyester containing product and methods to do so. Such compositions and methods comprise use of a color infusion composition comprising an antimigrant polymer; pigment; ammonium polyphosphate; and an anionic surfactant comprising phosphate. In certain embodiments, thermoplastic polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 93.0° C. or less is used to enhance color infusion.

Infusible waterborne pigmented resin compositions and methods of preparing and using the same

Air purification and surface sterilization systems employing ultraviolet germicidal irradiation integratable in a discrete manner into indoor occupiable spaces in buildings. The systems may be used alone or in combination. The air purification system utilizes fan-powered disinfection units equipped with an ultraviolet light source operable to deactivate airborne pathogens. The surface sterilization system utilizes ultraviolet lamp units operable to deactivate surface accumulations of pathogen. Devices of either disinfection system may be integrated into ceiling or wall systems of the building interior space, or office furniture used in such spaces. The systems have applicability to institutional, commercial, and residential facilities as some examples.

Air purification and surface sterilization systems integratable into building structures and furniture systems

Described herein is a building panel comprising a body, the body comprising: a fiber; a latex binder present in an amount ranging from about 3 wt. % to about 10 wt. % based on the total weight of the body; and an inorganic particle having an average particle size ranging from about 1 micron to about 13 microns; wherein the inorganic particle and the binder are present in a weight ratio ranging from about greater than 1:1 to about 6:1.

Sag resistant acoustical ceiling panel with a filled latex binder system that enhances strength and durability

Described herein are building panels and surface covering systems useful for spaces requiring acoustic control and design flexibility, and methods to prepare the same. Such building panels and surface covering systems comprise an acoustic building panel having a first major surface opposite a second major surface and a side surface extending there-between, the acoustic building panel comprising a body having an upper surface opposite a lower surface and side surfaces extending there-between; a fleece having a first side and a second side; wherein the first side of the fleece is in contact with the upper surface of the body; wherein the body and fleece are laminated; and wherein the fleece has a resistivity of about 826,100 to about 1,090,900 Pa*s/m. In certain embodiments, building panels and surface covering systems have superior fire resistant qualities.

Acoustical panel

The present invention is directed to ceiling panels formed from a porous scrim that is coupled to an acoustical substrate using a scrim attachment system that includes an adhesive.

Scrim attachment system

A ceiling system includes a ceiling support structure supporting a plurality of ceiling panels, each ceiling panel including a core layer having a top surface facing a first interior space above the ceiling panels, a bottom surface facing a second interior space below the ceiling panels, and a plurality of peripheral edges extending between the top and bottom surfaces. A top frame layer extends from the top surface and a thermal layer is on the top frame layer opposite the top surface. The thermal layer has a first surface facing away from the top frame layer and a second surface facing toward the top frame layer. The top frame layer supports the second surface in a spaced-apart manner from the top surface to form one or more air gaps between the top surface and the second surface. The first and second surfaces have a thermal emissivity of 0.5 or less.

Ceiling system

Described herein are building products comprising crimped bicomponent fibers and a non-woven fabric, which demonstrate, inter alia, improved acoustical performance. Methods of making and using the building products are also described.

Low density acoustical panels

This invention is an acoustic fiber-based substrate composed primarily of insulation-type spun fibers or blends of such fibers and wheel spun fibers. The fibers are bound with a water-dispersible latex binder, or an agri-binder such as starch in conjunction with cellulose fiber. The insulation-type spun fibers can be first quality virgin, post-industrial waste-stream or post-consumer waste stream fiber. The substrate is wet-formed from a very dilute aqueous dispersion of ingredients onto a mesh forming screen, as on a Fourdrinier paper machine. By virtue of the insulation-type spun fiber dimensions, morphology and orientation: very low density wet-mats can be formed from a sufficiently dilute suspension. With respect to other wet-formed substrates, the invention is much lower in density and more highly porous, and, thus, the substrate is highly absorbing, exhibiting noise reduction coefficients, NRC values of about 0.80 or greater. Such NRC values have only been achieved with dry-formed, or air-laid processes in which the fiber are bound with formaldehyde emitting reactive resins.

Highly acoustical, wet-formed substrate

The present invention provides for an acoustically absorbent porous panel that is both rigid and resistant to sagging caused by moisture. The acoustically absorbent porous panel is comprised of at least two layers. The first layer is a facing layer formed from a cured aqueous foamed cementitious material. The foamed cementitious material comprises on a wet basis about 53% to about 68% by weight cement, about 17% to about 48% by weight water, about 0.05% to about 5% by weight fiber, and about 0.01% to about 10% by weight surfactant. Additionally, pores distributed within the cured material comprising about 75% to about 95% by volume of the material. The second layer is a backing layer that is affixed to the facing layer.

Composite structure with foamed cementitious layer

Disclosed is a multi-layered, substantially rigid and self-supporting acoustical panel. Preferably, the panel includes an acoustically absorbent semi-rigid core having a substantially continuous interior porosity. The panel also includes an acoustically permeable face layer applied to a first face of the core, wherein the face layer is adapted to allow acoustical energy to pass through the face layer and into the acoustically absorbent core. The panel also includes a flame-retardant, calendered paper backing adapted to be applied to the core. According to the present invention, the panel may also include a flame-retardant adhesive adapted to attach the calendered, flame-retardant paper backing to the core.

An acoustically absorbent porous panel formed from a cured aqueous foamed cementitious material comprising on a wet basis of about 53% to about 68% by weight cement, about 17% to about 48% by weight water, about 0.05% to about 5% by weight fiber, and about 0.01% to about 10% by weight surfactant. The panel also has pores distributed within the cured material comprising about 75% to about 95% by volume of the material. The cement-based, foamed panel provides good acoustical performance with enhanced durability and moisture resistance.

Durable porous article of manufacture and a process to create same

A high melting solid aromatic or cycloaliphatic azole-based chemical embossing inhibitor is essentially insoluble and inert in water and/or water alcohol mixtures. These solid azoles can be readily micronized and dispersed into water-based printing inks for use in producing textured foamed plastic surfaces. These compounds comprise a general class of 1-N substituted aminomethylaryl- or cyclohexyltriazole and imidazole derivatives. Some of the preferred compounds are symmetrical di-functional triazole derivatives and some of the preferred embodiments have a carboxy moiety or a sulfonyl moiety attached to a nitrogen atom.

Highly insoluble azole embossing inhibitor and the use thereof

Mineral paper is provided which comprises a wet-laid sheet of 1) fibers, 2) a floc of a silicate selected from the group consisting of mica and vermiculite, the said floc having a cationic polymeric flocculant having a molecular weight in the range of from about 10,000 to about 1,000,000, and 3) a non-ionic polymeric flocculant having a molecular weight of from about 2,000,000 to about 10,000,000. A process is described herein for the preparation of the paper using the two flocculants by first flocculating with the cationic polymeric flocculant and then flocculating in another step with the non-ionic polymeric flocculant to obtain an easily drained flocculated mixture which is dewatered to obtain the mineral paper.
