A brake assembly including a caliper that has a first guide bore, a brake carrier arranged to receive a brake pad, a first guide pin secured to the brake carrier, and a first lock arrangement. The first lock arrangement is operable to selectively inhibit relative sliding between the caliper and the brake carrier.

Brake assembly

A disc brake, an axle assembly having a disc brake, and a method of assembly. The disc brake may include a first friction element and a second friction element. The first and second friction elements may have an effective contact area with a brake rotor of at least 10,000 mm.

Disc brake

A disc brake assembly having brake pads, a brake carrier, a caliper, and an actuating arrangement. The caliper is slidable with respect to the brake carrier for clamping and release of a rotor by the brake pads. The actuating arrangement is configured to selectively move the caliper and the brake carrier relative to each other generally transverse to a first longitudinal axis so as to lock or inhibit sliding of the caliper relative to the carrier.

A method of making a brake assembly. The method may include providing a brake pad carrier, an air operated brake actuator suitable for attaching to the brake pad carrier, and a hydraulically operated brake actuator suitable for attaching to the brake pad carrier, and attaching one of the air operated brake actuator and hydraulically operated brake actuator to the brake pad carrier to provide a brake assembly.

A brake includes a brake shoe moveable between an engaged position and a disengaged position and defining an axis of rotation of an associated brake drum. The brake includes an actuation shaft rotatable about a shaft axis and an actuation device for transferring rotational movement of the actuation shaft into movement of the brake shoe from the disengaged position to the engaged position. The axis of rotation is non-parallel to the shaft axis.

A method of replacement of replaceable components of a vehicle braking system are described, along with methods of controlling such replacement by preventing the or permitting removal of replaceable components of a braking system, in response to comparison of codes associated with current and replacement parts of the braking system. A related braking system and controller are also disclosed. The methods and related products can be used for ensuring the replacement of braking components with correctly specified replacement parts.

Braking component replacement system and method

A brake caliper has a brake pad having a backplate with a friction material attached to one side and a loading face on an opposite side. The caliper further includes a piston that applies a force to the loading face. The brake pad is releasably attached to the piston, thereby eliminating a separate brake pad retaining structure in the caliper.

A resilient device for minimizing noise in a splined connection includes a mounting portion and two flanges bent from the mounting portion to attach to a structure. The flanges are substantially parallel and spaced apart from each other by the mounting portion to form a substantially U-shaped profile. An arm is bent in a second direction from the mounting to lie adjacent to the mounting portion. The arm has a wavy portion having a pitch that allows it to engage with splines in the splined connection to prevent rattling in the connection without having to reduce the clearance between the splines.
