Disclosed are thickened organic liquid compositions comprising an organic liquid and a polymeric rheology modifier wherein the polymeric rheology modifier is obtainable by co-polymerizing at least two of a bicyclic (meth)acrylate ester, an alkyl (meth)acrylate, and an aromatic vinyl monomer. Also disclosed are thickened organic liquid dispersions with suspended solids and methods of stabilizing dispersions using polymeric rheology modifiers.

Thickened organic liquid compositions with polymeric rheology modifiers

Polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers include an emulsion polymer including at least one polysaccharide portion and at least one synthetic portion wherein the at least one synthetic portion is obtained from at least one anionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a combination thereof, wherein at least one of the nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers is a hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, as well as methods of making polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers.

Rheology modifiers

Polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers include an emulsion polymer including at least one polysaccharide portion and at least one synthetic portion wherein the at least one synthetic portion is obtained from at least one anionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, at least one nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomer or a combination thereof; wherein at least one of the nonionic ethylenically unsaturated monomers is a hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer, as well as methods of making polysaccharide alkali swellable rheology modifiers.

A personal care composition includes a hybrid copolymer including at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a naturally derived hydroxyl containing chain transfer agent as an end group, a hybrid synthetic copolymer including one or more synthetic polymers derived from the at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer with at least one initiator fragment as an end group and an effective amount of a cosmetic or personal care additive.

Hybrid copolymer compositions for personal care applications

A thickening system for personal care formulations including methyl ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose provides efficient thickening power in applications areas such as shampoo and styling gels. In addition to providing thickening, the methyl ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose derived polymers also provide foam stability to shampoos and improved high humidity curl retention to hair gel compositions.
