A system and method of navigating among multiple real-time data streams on a mobile device is presented. Multiple thumbnail image representations are displayed wherein each thumbnail image is associated with an available real-time data stream. A user provides navigation input via a user interface for navigating among the multiple displayed thumbnail image representations. The thumbnail image representation currently selected based on the navigation input is highlighted or otherwise made to stand out on the mobile device display. The user then selects a highlighted thumbnail image representation, via the user interface, thereby activating the real-time data stream associated with the highlighted thumbnail image representation. This causes the real-time data stream associated with the selected highlighted thumbnail image representation to be displayed on the mobile device display.

A mobile device that includes an antenna, an interface, and an application. The antenna is capable of receiving a signal. The interface is capable of receiving a second signal in synchronization with the signal and the application is configured to perform receive diversity processing using the signal and the second signal. Further, is included a mobile device that includes the antenna, the interface, and a second application where the second application is configured to perform multiple input multiple output (MIMO) processing using the signal and the second signal. Increased bandwidth and processing gain is achieved for the received signal by the receive diversity processing and the MIMO processing.

Techniques for processing data related to common interests of two or more users of a communication system are disclosed. In an exemplary method disclosed herein, the occurrence of a trigger event at a first communication device is detected, wherein the trigger event is related to communications between the first communication device and a second communication device. In response to the trigger event, the transmission of a first data object to the second communication device is initiated, wherein the first data object comprises information indicating one or more interests of a user of the first communication device. The exemplary method further comprises receiving and processing a second data object formed in response to the first data object, the second data comprising data related to one or more common interests shared by the users of the first and second communication devices. Similar methods suitable for implementing at a user communication device or at a data object server are disclosed, as are correspondingly configured devices.

Method and apparatus for sharing common interest links between communication devices

Methods and systems for selectively transferring confidential or private information to a user of a communication device are disclosed. In an exemplary method, a trigger event is detected at a first communication device, resulting in the retrieval of a data object for transmission to a second communication device. If the data object includes private or confidential information, consent of a user of the first communication device is required before the data object may be sent to the second communication device. In some embodiments, consent is obtained by explicitly requesting consent from a user. In others, consent may be deemed under pre-determined circumstances.

Method and apparatus for controlling the transfer of private information in a communication system

Described is a system and method of receiving content on a portable mobile communications device from a mobile TV service provider. A mobile pointer record is created and stored within the portable mobile communications device that contains data that identifies content to be delivered from the mobile TV service provider. The mobile pointer record data is sent to a content server maintained by the mobile TV service provider where a corresponding content server pointer record is created and stored such that the mobile TV service provider associates the content server pointer record with stored content. When desired, a request is sent to the mobile TV service provider from the portable mobile communications device by selecting the desired mobile pointer record for the content. The mobile TV service provider identifies the content via the corresponding content server pointer record and delivers the requested stored content to the portable mobile communications device.

Efficient streamed content delivery to portable communications device

A wireless communications device is a hub for a conference call between a user of the device, a first remote party, and a second remote party. The wireless communications device communicates with the first remote party over a first connection and with the second remote party over a second concurrently active connection. A circuit in the wireless communications device transcodes voice data received over the first and second connections so that the voice data may be shared between the parties.

System and method of conferencing endpoints

A communications system in which information is transmitted in successive time slots grouped into a plurality of superframes which are, in turn, grouped into a plurality of hyperframes. A remote station is assigned to one of the time slots in each of the superframes for paging the remote station, each hyperframe including at least two superframes, and the information sent in the assigned time slot in one superframe in each hyperframe is repeated in the assigned time slot in the other superframe(s) in each hyperframe. Each superframe can include a plurality of time slots used for sending paging messages to remote stations, grouped into a plurality of successive paging frames, and the time slot to which the remote station is assigned is included once in every paging frame. Also, each superframe may include time slots comprising a logical channel for broadcast control information and time slots comprising a logical paging channel. Information sent in the assigned time slot may direct the remote station to read the broadcast control information, and the information may have been encoded according to an error correcting code and include a plurality of bits having polarities that are inverses of cyclic redundancy check bits produced by the encoding. Also, the broadcast control information may comprise special messages that are included in respective time slots comprising a logical special message channel, the time slots of the special message channel may be grouped in successive SMS frames, and the SMS frames may be synchronized to start with a start of a superframe.

A cellular radiotelephone which includes a programmable memory location which is programmed with a unique initial identification number is remotely programmed by providing the initial identification number to a cellular system, and establishing a page from the cellular system to the radiotelephone using the initial identification number to identify the radiotelephone. Data, including a mobile identification number, is transmitted during the page, and the programmable memory location is programmed with the mobile identification number. Accordingly, the radiotelephone can be conveniently programmed after purchase from a remote location. In addition, the initial identification number may comprise predetermined digits chosen from the electronic serial number.
