A method of operating an anti-lock braking system includes that real-time brake corner temperature data, real-time brake corner pressure data real-time brake corner torque data, and deceleration parameters of the vehicle are detected. The method also includes that an apparent friction at the brake corner is determined in response to at least the real-time brake corner temperature data, the real-time brake corner pressure data, the real-time brake corner torque data, and the deceleration parameters of the vehicle.

Force controlled anti-lock braking system strategy

A Brake-By-Wire (BBW) system for a vehicle includes a brake rotor, a caliper, a master cylinder, and a controller. The caliper is adapted to exert a hydraulic force upon the brake rotor during a braking action. The master cylinder includes a housing, a piston, an actuator, and a hydraulic fluid reservoir. The housing defines a piston cavity. The actuator is adapted to controllably move the piston within the piston cavity. A compensation opening is defined by the housing, and is in fluid communication between the reservoir and the piston cavity. A fluid opening is defined by the housing, and is in fluid communication between the caliper and the piston cavity. The controller is configured to receive a vehicle condition signal and send a command signal to the actuator that effects closure of the compensation opening based on the vehicle condition signal to prevent hydraulic fluid flowback to the hydraulic fluid reservoir.

Brake-by-wire system with piston pry-back prevention

A vehicle includes at least one brake assembly configured to brake at least one wheel of the vehicle in response to an applied voltage. A power supply is in signal communication with the at least one brake assembly. The power supply is configured to operate in a first mode that outputs a first voltage and a second mode that outputs a second voltage greater than the first voltage. A brake control system is in signal communication with the at least one brake assembly and the power supply. The brake control system is configured to determine a driving state of the vehicle, and is configured to output a brake boost request signal to initiate the second mode of the power supply in response to detecting the driving state, wherein a braking response time of the at least one brake assembly is improved in response to applying the second voltage.

A brake fade management system of the brake-by-wire system includes an actuator target arbitrator module, a compliance module, and an output loss module. The compliance module calculates and delivers displacement adjusted actuator target data to the actuator target arbitrator module. The output loss module calculates and delivers output adjusted actuator target data to the actuator target arbitrator module. The actuator target arbitrator module processes the displacement adjusted actuator target data and the output adjusted actuator target data, and outputs an actuator target command signal to the actuator.
