A stand for a musical instrument is sturdy, durable and easy to construct. The stand supports a musical instrument, such as a guitar, in a substantially upright, readily accessible manner, yet the stand is easy to disassemble for ready transport or store in a low volume configuration. One embodiment of a stand includes a base for supporting a lower section of a musical instrument and a detachable neck that engages an upper section of the musical instrument. The base includes a front support rod, a back support rod spaced apart and extending parallel to the front support rod and a pair of side support rods extending between and connecting the front support rod and the back support rod. A plurality of legs extend from the base to provide stability. The neck support can be magnetically secured to the base in a substantially upright position when the stand is in an assembled configuration. When in a storage configuration, the neck support can be secured to base in a horizontal position, thereby providing a low profile.

Musical instrument support stand

An orthopedic cast system, including a hydrophilic inner layer; a hydrophobic outer layer having opposing surfaces adjacent to said hydrophilic inner layer, wherein the hydrophobic layer has an apparent surface energy less than about 60 dynes per centimeter; and a curable casting material disposed on one of the opposing surfaces is provided. Additionally, a method of immobilizing a body part is provided. An orthopedic cast kit is also provided.

Orthopedic cast system and method

The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for storing moisture-sensitive products such as moisture-curable orthopedic splinting/casting product, in flexible, preferably elongated, pouches. The product is folded into a repeating series of discrete sections where each section has at least one segment that extend along the pouch length. By configuring the product in this way, it can be efficiently packaged, stored, and dispensed. Other embodiments of the invention include closure systems that permit sealing the pouch opening when product is not being dispensed and substantially sealing the pouch around the product during dispensing.

Apparatus and methods for packaging and storing moisture-sensitive products in resealable pouches

The present invention relates to an easy-to-use and effective magnetically resealable moisture-proof pouch containing moisture-curable orthopedic splinting/casting product in bulk form or in individually packaged rolls. The preferred pouch incorporates a frame disposed about an opening into the pouch which provides a mounting place for a moisture-proof magnetic seal. Also disclosed are containers for the preferred pouches which are adapted for use with the magnetic sealing system according to the present invention.

A method of immobilizing a body part with an improved orthopedic cast or splint having a padding that has been treated with a fluorochemical or silicone. The padding has an apparent surface tension of less than 60 dynes per centimeter and a porosity of less than about 15 seconds. The padding is able to shed water rapidly, thereby providing more comfort for the user.

A curable orthopedic support material is disclosed wherein a flexible sheet material is impregnated with a liquid resin system; the resin-impregnated material cures upon exposure to a curing agent into a resilient, semi-rigid support device. In one preferred embodiment, one or more layers of a cushioning material such as foam is associated with the support material. The cured support is especially designed for orthopedic applications where conventional rigid casts are neither necessary not desirable, such as athletic uses.

The present invention relates to orthopedic splinting articles and methods for forming orthopedic splints at least part way around an animal body part. The splinting articles comprise a unitary blank formed of an open-celled foam sheet impregnated with a water curable, isocyanate functional, polyurethane prepolymer resin. The blank is dimensioned to extend the length of the body part to be immobilized and to partially, but preferably not completely, extend around the circumference of the body part. Upon activation of the resin impregnated foam sheet and molding the same around the body part, an orthopedic splint is formed. The present invention further relates to the use of such resin-impregnated foam materials as walking heels or laminates betweeen casts and walking heels, as supports for orthotic devices such as arch supports for foot orthotics, and as protective coverings for animal hoofs.

A combination of materials that can be used to form a splint or protective covering including a support mat including a water hardenable resin impregnated fabric with water restricting film along at least one of its major surfaces, and a pressure sensitive adhesive coated padding that can be adhered to the support mat after the fabric is exposed to water so that the resultant laminate can be applied to a person with a dry surface of the padding against his skin.
