The pressure control system includes a first pressure sensing device configured to obtain a first pressure measurement including at least one of a first differential pressure and a first pressure, the first pressure measurement obtained from at least one of within and downstream from a solids supply system, a second pressure sensing device configured to obtain a second pressure measurement including at least one of a second differential pressure and a second pressure within the solids supply system, and a pressure controller configured to use the first pressure measurement and the second pressure measurement to control a pressure within the solids supply system.

The method involves receiving a plurality of current operating parameters of an engine during operation of engine and determining at least one of a current substitution ratio and a current peak cylinder pressure based on the plurality of current operating parameters. The method also involves determining at least one of a target substitution ratio and a predefined peak cylinder pressure based on the plurality of current operating parameters and comparing at least one of the current substitution ratio with the target substitution ratio and the current peak cylinder pressure with the predefined peak cylinder pressure. The method also involves controlling a first power output from a plurality of engine cylinders and a second power output from an electric turbo-compounding system, based on the comparison of at least one of the current substitution ratio with the target substitution ratio and the current peak cylinder pressure with the predefined peak cylinder pressure.

System and method for controlling operation of an engine

A monitoring system and method monitor changes in clearance distances between a sensor and a rotating component of a machine. Imbalance and/or wear in the machine is identified based on the changes in the clearance distances. The system and method optionally both measure the clearance distances and a rotating speed of the rotating component of the machine with the same sensor. In order to identify imbalance in the machine, a spectral energy of the machine can be calculated based on the changes in the clearance distances, and the imbalance in the machine can be identified based on the spectral energy. The system and method can determine a trigger speed of the machine that is associated with the wear in the machine based on the changes in the clearance distance. A remaining useful life of the machine can be estimated based on changes in the trigger speed.

In a first embodiment, a system includes a first solids feeder having a first inlet and a first outlet, a second solids feeder having a second inlet and a second outlet, and an adjustable volume coupled to the first outlet and the second inlet. Methods and systems are provided for operating a turbocharged engine. An engine system comprises a turbocharger, a bypass path, and a turbo-compound unit. The turbocharger may include a turbine mechanically coupled to a compressor. The turbo-compound unit may include a turbine mechanically coupled to a load, such as a generator. The turbo-compound unit may be coupled in a bypass path around the turbocharger turbine. In this manner, thermodynamic energy flowing through the bypass path may be harvested to increase the engine-operating efficiency. Further, gas flow through the bypass path may be adjusted to potentially improve the transient response of the turbocharger.
