A pump housing assembly having two parts, each part including an outer casing and an inner lining of elastomeric material. An insert component comprising a body, including a lining section, is sandwiched between the housing parts and cooperates with the inner lining of the two housing parts to form a pump chamber. The insert component further includes a drainage hole extending through the lining section of the component for permitting drainage of fluid from the pump chamber.

In a centrifugal pump, an enclosed-type impeller is provided with a plurality of auxiliary side vanes on either or both of the front and back faces of the impeller which project toward and conform with suitable running clearances to the walls of the casing adjacent the impeller. Annular members projecting axially from the sides of the impeller about the periphery thereof serve to limit circulation of working fluid into the spaces along the sides of the impeller. In one embodiment, the annular projection defines radially oriented passages or channels for transmitting fluid which is driven by the centrifugal action of the side vanes.

A pump comprising an outer casing, an inner liner and a rotatable impeller, the liner being mounted to the casing in a manner such that the liner is substantially secured against rotational movement within the casing but can expand, contract or deflect radially from the centerline of rotation of the impeller.

A centrifugal pump casing of the volute type having a volute region comprising two circular segments of differing radii adjoining tangentially and a discharge branch leading tangentially away from the segment of greater radius. Liners for the casing are formed in the same manner. Preferably the adjoining circular segments are of common constant cross section.

A pump casing for high pressure pumps is composed of two halves each half being provided with a liner. The two casing halves are joined by flanges which are recessed to receive corresponding flanges of the liners. At least one groove is provided in the recess formed by the casing flanges to receive and retain part of the liner flange material.

A mechanical seal assembly for a rotating shaft passing into a pressure vessel and being axially adjustable is formed by a first seal face rotating with the shaft and engaging a fixed seal face. This latter face is supported in a housing which is axially adjusted with the shaft. The housing in turn passes through an opening in the pressure vessel and is permanently sealed therein by an O-ring seal.

A cable-controlled thickener for a settling tank is provided with rake arms which are hinged for movement in a vertical plane only at the lower end of a freely rotatable structure which is suspended from a driving mechanism, the suspension arrangement being located above the highest possible liquid level in the tank.
