The present invention generally relates to a method for separating solids from liquid in a slurry comprising solids and a liquid (e.g., an aqueous solution). More specifically, the method comprises contacting an effective amount of a high molecular weight polymeric flocculant with the slurry in a tanker truck or as the slurry is flowing to the truck, allowing the solids to settle during a settling time whereby the solids settle to the bottom of the tanker truck, and the liquid is removed from the tanker truck at a level above the settled solids. The high molecular weight polymeric flocculant can comprise repeat units derived from a cationic monomer, an anionic monomer, a nonionic monomer, or a combination thereof.

Use of polyelectrolytes for the remediation of solids from oil field separation

Processes for recovering hydrocarbons from subterranean formations are disclosed. The hydrocarbon can be contacted with water or steam and one or more additives, and subsequently recovered. The hydrocarbon can be selected from the group consisting of heavy or light crude oil, bitumen, an oil sand ore, a tar sand ore and combinations thereof. The additive can be, for example, a fluorinated hydrocarbon, one or more alcohols, combinations of alcohols, and combinations of one or more alcohols and one or more fluorinated hydrocarbons. The present invention generally relates to methods for removing an organic deposit or for inhibiting deposition of deposit-forming comprising contacting a cleaning composition or an anti-coking composition with a surface. The present invention provides a method for conditioning food processing waste prior to mechanical dewatering with the use of environmentally friendly coagulants and flocculants. The method of the present invention comprises treating these waste waters with an effective amount of a vinylamine polymer including from about 1 to about 100 mole percent vinylamine and from about 1 to about 99 mole percent of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of amidine, vinylformamide, vinyl alcohol, vinyl acetate, vinyl pyrrolidinone and the esters, amides, nitriles and salts of acrylic acid and methacrytic acid. In an embodiment, the method of the present invention includes the further step of adding an effective amount of at least one flocculant to the food processing waste. The flocculent effectively agglomerates a portion of the colloidal organic solids into suspended solids.

The invention provides novel cationic flocculant dispersion polymers that can be utilized in the methods disclosed herein. This invention also provides methods for detecting cationic flocculants wherein said flocculants may be made via a dispersion process, a latex process or a dry polymer process. The flocculants are used to flocculate solids from liquid components of an industrial food process. The detection method involves the use of monoclonal antibodies to determine the presence or concentration of the cationic flocculants in the liquids.
